Clachtoll Beach Campsite, Clachtoll

Nestled in a rocky bay and surrounded by moorland, Clachtoll Beach Campsite boasts white sand and turquoise water that seems to belong more to the Mediterranean than the Scottish highlands. Stroll along the fine sand, fish off the craggy rock formations, or take a kayak out on the water. Keep an eye out for the pods of dolphins that regularly swim by or the otters and seals which play by the shoreline. Also watch for more infrequent visitors such as minke whales, basking sharks, and porpoise. At the campsite just behind the beach, you will find a shop and other amenities. After spending time on the beach, consider launching an exhibition to the surrounding hills and coastline with its sweeping views and dramatic cliffs. • Nice wee beach is in easy walking distance from campsite. Sandy, with some stones - the beach can catch a fair bit of wind - some surfers were attempting a ride during a gale when we visited. Nice spo...  more »
  • Great secluded beach, dog friendly easy walk from Clachtoll Camp site. Interesting rangers hut with story boards.  more »
  • This has to be one of the best beaches in the UK, turquoise waters, white sand, you could be forgiven for thinking it was in the Caribbean.  more »

  • Very very expensive. You get double charged by individuals and after tent as well. Cost me 9£ each night this way. The facilities are very clean and tidy, however a decent warm shower is included in the fee they are very crowded both the toilets as well because they got only two each, which I think is far from enough for such a big campsite. The wifi connection is also included but sadly it's just useless. I couldn't even start a google search on my phone. Such a lame. Also there wasn't any view and easy acces to the coast from the tent ground what I expected.
  • Iconic split rock, white sandy beach, salmon bothy with interesting information boards about the salmon trade in the past and the migration of Reverend McLeod to Waipu in northern NZ, plus good public toilets, ranger information center, shop plus clean and tidy campsite
  • Fantastic facilities, staff couldn't possibly do anything more for you. Direct access to beach too.
  • Really nice location, very friendly staff. Don't forget to book in advance.
  • My favourite camp site anywhere. Pretty basic facilities but friendly staff and fabulous location
