Heythrop Park Resort Golf Reviews

30 golfers travelled up for an inter society match - we booked this at short notice so our choice of venues was limited and despite the poor reviews for Heythrop we took a punt. It was excellent on th... more »

Our society visited Heythrop last week. Very friendly staff who greeted us for our breakfast. The course itself was great, it is the second time we have been this year and the first time the greens we... more »

We recently played Heythrop Park for a golf day. Having read some reviews of the course I was somewhat sceptical. I was pleasantly surprised by the condition, fairways were perfect and the greens have... more »
Impressive service, location and rooms. Booked as a conference venue it was second to none. Faultless service with plenty of parking. The staff can't do enough for you. Highly recommended
We had a lovely stay. The room was very pretty and a good size. The pool and spa area was awesome and the area around the hotel is breath taking. Highly recommended place!
Wow, what a place. Stayed the night, great history fantastic food. Used the spa facilities and played Golf the next day. Only reason it's a 4 star is the course needed reseeding or new grass laying as parts were bald
I would rate this hotel as 4 stars but because we primarily went to play golf I can only rate it at 1 star. Fairways were in poor condition. Greens if they can be described as greens were the worst ever! They were a disgrace so much so the management gave us a partial refund. Pity really as the course layout is excellent. Beware if you plan to visit this venue as you will be very disappointed. If you do decide to go and you use an electric trolly make sure your battery is in good condition as the greens to tee's are a long walk. We measured the course at approx 10,000 yards in total.
It's a shame as the staff that I encountered were very helpful, and polite. But to pay well over £100 for a room that can only be described as full. I had to walk sideways around the bed, because it took up almost all of the room. To hang my clothes I had the insides of a wardrobe, which protruded from the wall for which it was screwed, creating quite a head banging hazard. Which I found at 0330 in the morning going for an old mans! The sash window had one weight working, the other was snapped and left hanging. This made opening the window fun, you had to dance a twist to get it to go up. Flies, ladybirds, all manner of dead and consuming bugs feasted on the window sill. Now the shower had me laugh, turned on the water, and the shower head jumped out of its holder. Not because of the lack of pressure coming out of it. Because it was obviously a replacement and it was too heavy and not the best fit. I had to wedge the hose behind the bar and angle the head to stop it falling out. But this did mean I had to stoop to get under the water. The house is old and tired, and in need of total refurbishment. I had the opportunity to walk the grounds and at times it's breathtaking. If you need to stay in the area, I would recommend the Cotswold country Spa, just outside Chipping Norton. For half the price a night, clean, modern and friendly staff . The meals in the restaurant appear to be popular, but I've only eaten there 3 times and it is well presented, but over the three meals, I would go back. I was only there because of work. My money, on my dime? Answer is a no
