Where to stay in Chester

Chester is not only steeped in Roman history, but also packed with a wide range of modern lodging options. The selection of hotels runs the gamut from family-run operations to luxury big-name brands, known for offering spacious rooms upstairs and Michelin-rated cuisine downstairs. Most of Chester's finest hotels are located within the diminutive city center, which makes them an ideal base for exploring everything this urban area has to offer. A wider variety of less expensive options, including cozy B&Bs and traditional inns, is located a short walk from the town center.

  • Went for a short walk before returning to our hotel. The park is in full bloom and nicely maintained. There is a coffee shop at the entrance, but we did not stop. A nice change from all the shops!!  more »

  • The gardening here is not as lovely as it was years ago, they look tired and well trod, either down to local budget cuts or staffing. The lawns and flower beds were always looking fabulous. The children's play area and model train are great addition and are always well used. The catering is also good quality at reasonably priced. With the park so well used by locals lets get the gardens back to the quality they used to be.
  • Love this park. My favourite park in the world. It's beautiful serene and brings back so many happy childhood memories
  • Beautiful scenery and a lovely walk to the river below. The park is well maintained and there are often events for all ages on
  • A nice little park. The friendly squirrels eating food out of peoples hands was nice. Was interesting to watch the pecking order of nature. A wood pigeon had a peanut, the duck waddled over and took the peanut off the wood pigeon. The leaping squirrel went up to the duck and took the peanut off the duck. Another observation was how relaxed the wood pigeons were around people. There was a wood pigeon standing just by my feet. I am a country boy, wood pigeons when they see a human fly away. Sometimes i have managed to sneak up on an unsuspecting wood pigeon, getting right close before the little fella flies away as if the Loch Ness Monster has crept up on it, flying off in sheer terror. Wood pigeons however, deserve no sympathy they are very greedy. Many times have i left food for birds, watching them eat the sunflower seeds only for a wood pigeon to waddle up, scare the birds away and eat the whole lot, no wonder they are so fat, if they weren't so greedy they might be skinny.
  • Lovely day for the kids. Lots of things to do boats feeding the ducks and lovely food and drinks.
