Where to stay in Chester

Chester is not only steeped in Roman history, but also packed with a wide range of modern lodging options. The selection of hotels runs the gamut from family-run operations to luxury big-name brands, known for offering spacious rooms upstairs and Michelin-rated cuisine downstairs. Most of Chester's finest hotels are located within the diminutive city center, which makes them an ideal base for exploring everything this urban area has to offer. A wider variety of less expensive options, including cozy B&Bs and traditional inns, is located a short walk from the town center.

  • WHAT A GREAT FIND! Was in Chester last year and didn't know it was race day. The streets were packed and some people were letting the drink get the better of them. My wife and I have never been to Chester and stumble across this quaint bar as they were closing the doors. The management chose to allow only limited numbers into the wine bar as not to spoil its ambiance and its integrity. All I can say is that it worked. We were isolated from some football chanting outside (was a match day) and we enjoyed sampling various wines and cheese boards, an absolute delight. Perfect setting, staff were knowledgeable and very friendly and in no way pretentious, thanks for a great evening and hope to return soon!
  • Great place to try out wines before you buy or simply great for a wine or 2!
  • Great choice of wines and some interesting beers as well
  • Lovely little wine den.
