See the greater one-horned rhinoceros on the Asian Plains, elephants in the Asian Forest, and jaguars in one of the world's largest jaguar enclosures. Walk through Butterfly Journey to completely surround yourself with the colorful winged creatures, and enter the Fruit Bat Forest to observe these giant bats. You can sit in on various animal talks throughout the day, and make sure you also spend time in the diverse, award-winning gardens. Choose from six different restaurants and kiosks. • One of the oldest zoos in the UK with a good selection of animals to see. Impossible to give the larger animals enough room but the zoo does try it's hardest to give them a reasonable environment. Plenty of cafes, ice-cream kiosks etc and nice, but expensive, finger-food in the Islands section. They have an app but it can be slow to load and a lot of people give it bad reviews - if it had a GPS enabled map to show where you were this would be brilliant (or an AR system to point the way) as finding your way around with the paper maps can be a problem. Would get another star if the signposts/maps were better and if the prices were a bit lower for entry and food.
  • One of our favourite zoo's in the country, used to visit every year but missed 2 years then came back again this year and was surprised. It was the first time we had visited the new islands layout and what a fantastic job they have done and we spent many hours at this area alone. The bat cave as always is a great experience as well as the butterfly house. All animals in the park are cared for 100% and it really shows. Even some of the local residents like the ducks are a joy
  • A really great zoo with lots to do and see. Well laid out and plenty of wildlife on show. Get there early and take a comfy pair of shoes as you'll need to do a lot of walking to get the best of the place. Good free parking and if you book online you'll get a discount.
  • To be it's the best zoo in the world, what they have made this zoo become is awesome, I have been to many other zoo's but this one seems to be the best. I love coming here with my family or just alone, taking photos or just walking around smiling and being amazed my what has changed or been added. An awesome day out for all come rain or shine.
  • Our family loves Chester zoo. It's a great place, with great animals and attentive staff. Sure, it's not cheap to either get in or eat there but there are ways to help there. If you live locally then an annual pass saves a lot of money. There's so much to do here, it is hard do it in a day and having already paid for the year you can sit back and enjoy yourself knowing that you can pop back for a couple of hours another day. There are plenty of places to eat picnics too, both under cover and outdoor. The animals all look well cared for and happy. Highly recommended.
