#1 of 18 in Fun & Games in Chester
Whether you enjoy betting, horses, or just a fun day out, consider visiting Chester Racecourse, known as the Roodee. The racecourse is conveniently located a short distance from hotels, bars, shopping, and restaurants. Check out the horses and jockeys, take a chance at the betting ring, or just enjoy some social time. For ladies, it’s an opportunity to don a fancy dress and hat, although sensible footwear is recommended. Certain areas have a strict dress code, so be sure to check in advance. Also be prepared to turn off your camera flash. You cannot place bets once a race starts, but you can redeem winning tickets any time during the day. You can find refreshments in betting areas, but if you would prefer to eat at one of the restaurants, be sure to pre-book. • if you enjoy horse racing, then it's excellent. went there for a stag-do and the facilities are great, atmosphere is entertaining, and everything is well run. if you're not fussed on horse racing, you are just standing around in a field though.
  • Great fun! The races themselves are exciting and people-watching is fascinating. Excellent restaurant. Not cheap but a lovely day out.
  • Good racecourse. Nice view of the track. Pleasant day out.
  • A great day out! The second time we have had a day at Chester races and had a package at the White Horse. The staff were excellent looking after our every need. The food was excellent along with the surrounding. You have the table for the day and you can come and go to the course as you please.
  • Great racecourse. Near city centre, plenty of eating places and bars.
