Chester Racecourse, Chester
(3.6/5 based on 850+ reviews on the web)
Whether you enjoy betting, horses, or just a fun day out, consider visiting Chester Racecourse, known as the Roodee. The racecourse is conveniently located a short distance from hotels, bars, shopping, and restaurants. Check out the horses and jockeys, take a chance at the betting ring, or just enjoy some social time. For ladies, it’s an opportunity to don a fancy dress and hat, although sensible footwear is recommended. Certain areas have a strict dress code, so be sure to check in advance. Also be prepared to turn off your camera flash. You cannot place bets once a race starts, but you can redeem winning tickets any time during the day. You can find refreshments in betting areas, but if you would prefer to eat at one of the restaurants, be sure to pre-book. For travelers who use our international travel planner, Chester holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Chester Racecourse and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • As you know that this is the 1st race coarse on the UK. It also is the smallest. But did u know u could also walk or cycle around it?
  • We had a VIP area on the festival ground so we're very lucky. It had a great view of the horses ... Shane I didn't win more money though. Great day out and had lots of fun!
  • A gloriously typical English day out
  • Visited the centre post and it was a fantastic experience. In my opinion too pricey for what it is, but I still enjoyed the day and the view of the race was amazing.
