Chester Racecourse, Chester

Whether you enjoy betting, horses, or just a fun day out, consider visiting Chester Racecourse, known as the Roodee. The racecourse is conveniently located a short distance from hotels, bars, shopping, and restaurants. Check out the horses and jockeys, take a chance at the betting ring, or just enjoy some social time. For ladies, it’s an opportunity to don a fancy dress and hat, although sensible footwear is recommended. Certain areas have a strict dress code, so be sure to check in advance. Also be prepared to turn off your camera flash. You cannot place bets once a race starts, but you can redeem winning tickets any time during the day. You can find refreshments in betting areas, but if you would prefer to eat at one of the restaurants, be sure to pre-book. For travelers who use our international travel planner, Chester holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Chester Racecourse and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

£30 for an Evening Prom Party. No entertainment and rubbish sparse food: pizza, fishcake, and tiny sandwiches. Oh but there was an unlimited supply of chips. Pathetic! Parents have paid a lot of money for outfits etc to make this a memorable occasion for these 'young adults'. Feeding them food that is more suited to a 5 year old's birthday party is not acceptable and that is why a lot of people left early. HUGE HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT
The course is vey nice and open. There are some lovely events that allow families to gather in the centre of the course. I run around the course sometimes as it has free access outside of race days.
What a fantastic race course.. Drinks and food prices are reasonable and not too much riff raff.. Would come again for sure
a real gem of a racecourse. TBF I had the experience from a hospitality box, but got a great view of the goings on. Well worth a day out.
The racecourse adds a nice green area element to the city of Chester. Touching both the River Dee and Roman walls, the racecourse is a nice scenic point with a couple of places to eat and drink situated near it. It is infamous for being rowdy during race days but there are also family friendly events hosted here such as fun runs and music gigs for example.
