We did the free day on Tuesday, which is a nice touch. We enjoyed it but it wouldn't be good value if we had paid the normal entrance fee of £11.50. It has improved since our last visit some years ago... more »
I took my sister (from 350 miles away in Pembs) & my husband to Hyde hall on 18th April - I am a member so only my sister had to pay - OVER £11 to get in! There were tractors & no entry signs everywhere - the grass areas were all chained off & the only flowers were daffodils that were all going over.... I think it is very very expensive to see less flowers out than in my own back garden! Perhaps there were flowers open, say in the Queen mothers garden but we couldn't go in ofcourse. I know gardens have to be maintained but surely the price should reflect that - especially with all the building work going on - very disappointed.
I came to Hyde Hall almost every day for a while when I was needing a quiet place away from the busy world. Taking photographs gave me a purpose. I took thousands of photographs and posted them on Google Plus. This gave me even more pleasure because I had a purpose and could enjoy sharing the photographs when I got home. I would have a snack at the cafe, take a look at the pond and cover just about every inch of the garden. Every moment of my visits was pure pleasure. The staff were kind and helpful too. Thank you, very sincerely, everyone who works/volunteers at Hyde Hall, I love you all.
Just a nice place to vist.paths are a bit mudding in places in the winter..ok for wheelchair use.views are great from the top of vegetable garden on a clear day.
Lovely gardens and there always seems to be improvements being made around the grounds. Lots of people doing the garden maintenance. We visited when all the scarecrows were on display on the hillside. High price shop and there are two cafes both busy and priced well for the location.
They have an amazing range to choose from and there is even a shop where you can buy plants and various different bits and pieces for your garden. This is a popular place for families and sometimes has that carnival feeling, so if you want plants or simply just a mooch, this is the place.
