  • There are not that many places that are free these days but this is one of them and is a credit to Barnsley Council. The Hall, Moorcroft exhibits and the current De Morgan exhibition are not to be mis...  more »

  • Wonderful views, acres of green space. A great museum, an interactive farm, play areas, popular pathways to walk along the riverside, wildlife a plenty, a gift shop, cafe, tea room and many other things to do for any age group from toddlers to those with a greater wealth of life experiences. Spend a few hours or all day and you're sure to enjoy your visit. A multi-million pound project to give the grounds a whole new look and feel has reached the final stages of planning and work is due to start in the very near future. It will be a massive change and is designed to be more accessible to everyone of every conceivable ability. Whether you use a wheelchair, have additional support needs or are in training for the next Olympics, a visit to Cannon Hall will be a day you'll enjoy and remember.
  • One of my favourite places to visit. I especially like The Farm Shop where there's a great selection of fresh and frozen meats including Game. The Bakery sells a good selection of baked goods including Pies, Breads and Cakes. There is a good selection of speciality items in the Grocery and an excellent range of Kitchen equipment and bakeware. The Garden Centre is ok. It's quite small scale compared to others in the area but not bad. The Cafe has a good range of foods with the usual range of coffees etc. I've not been yet though and had a decent cup of tea. The menu says Yorkshire Tea but i find it very weak compared to the Yorkshire Tea I drink at home . A minor quibble! Anyway there's plenty to do for a few hours both for adults and kids. Plenty of parking and not extortionately priced. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
  • Open Farm with an array of animal attractions, plus a heap of activities for the whole family to enjoy. The restaurants, gift shop, farm shop, locally produced ice cream all add to the experience. Situated right next to a fascinating stately home turned museum (free entry) that itself stands in a huge expanse of open parkland.
  • A great place for a walk at any time of year although you might nee to wear your wellies in wintry weather as it can be muddy but is still a pleasant and quiet place to walk. The house is quite interesting too! Special events are regularly so check out their web site to see what going on.
  • Fantastic Place. Great food. Friendly people. Awesome sights. A real life working farm. Lots to do .
