  • Short sharp uphill walk from the entrance centre puts you above Castleton with stunning views over the valley. There is enough to see within the ruins including the remaining tower.  more »
  • Lovely castle. Great views of the area. Castle and walls are a ruin and only the keep can be walked in/on - it has two floors and is open to the elements. Steep but short climb to the castle. Dogs on ...  more »
  • Fabulous climb, and very much worth it. Paths are well maintained, so an accessible way for less mobile travellers to get some of the Peak district views. Castleton was heaving, even in March, and eve...  more »

  • Stopped off here for a quick pint whilst walking around mam tor. Lovely pub and was obviously very popular due to the amount of diners in there. The bar man was really friendly and had a good selection of beers. Muddy boots and paws are welcome. The bar also takes android pay and contact less payments.
  • Really nice pub and restaurant. I have eaten here many times and always been happy with my meal. However, the last meal I had was a Sunday Roast (beef) and it was not up to their usual standard. I don't see that 1 meal out of many should drop their score though as although it was not the standard I normally receive, i do not usually have any complaints. Good selection of beers and all the open fires are great in the winter. Excellent staff. I will be going again.
  • Cosy pub with a log fire and great food. Staff were really nice too.
  • After a day out in Buxton we stopped at The Castle for tea on our way home. The dining room had recently been refurbished and was very cosy with real fires burning. The waiting staff couldn't have been more helpful and the food was great. Not cheapest pub grub but well worth the price (£58 for three of us including drinks and coffees) for a lovey meal in nice surroundings. Will be back!
  • This inn looks lovely, welcomes dogs and walkers and offers a good range of ales. Eating is a bit hit and miss and they often run out of items on the menu (this year they ran out of turkey for their festive menu). Service is variable (we have been many times)
