  • Sitting in the cafe at Threave Gardens there is a great view over the gardens and the terrace soon fills up in warm weather. The menu is varied but not extensive, however the specials on the board add...  more »
  • We live in Sussex and this was the best garden I have visited in a long time. Well tended, full of colour (early June) and a vast array of different plants, shrubs and trees. A perfect environment for...  more »
  • We visited the gardens on a warm, sunny day with 2 children aged 8 and 5. The map from reception was worth the 20p charge as it allowed us to short cut our original path when the children started comp...  more »

  • Have been visiting Threave Gardens for many years in all seasons. A beautiful garden that has developed and changed over the years. The daffodil bank in the spring is spectacular. The walled garden never fails to delight. We've seen bats swooping down to the pond taking a drink and have often seen red squirrels. The woodland walk is lovely and you are virtually guaranteed to see a red squirrel on the feeders when you sit in the bird hide, along with a variety of small birds. It's well worth going on a guided tour of the house.
  • Regular visitor here, to ring in the seasons. Seems expensive, but join the national trust and you have earned your money back in a couple of visits, and have free entry to hundreds of other places too! Check out "Events" at Threave. The annual open air theatre event, is not to be missed. What better way to spend a summer evening than in a deck chair, with a bottle of poo and picnic watching a"Midsummer nights dream" in glorious garden surroundings....awesome! They lose a star for the cafe though....despite what others have said, I think they could do better. Limited range of cakes and snacks, and eye wateringly expensive. Take a picnic!
  • Very varied planting in a lovely setting with a country house to see inside too. Lovely tea room.
  • Enjoyable NTS maintained gardens. Well laid out styles of gardens with adjacent woodland walks and a bird/wildlife hide providing variety of birds and red squirrel to view.
  • Beautifully kept informal gardens with lots of interesting walks through many different areas offering a wide variety of plants, shrubs and trees. Also includes a walled garden and a formal garden, two tea rooms and a NTS shop.
