  • Visited as a family with a 6year old who loves castles. He had a lovely time exploring. It is quite a short trip which we managed to get around in an hour and half.  more »
  • I'm near the area, and my partner wanted to go to the castle. From past experiences I thought it would be boring but it is actually not at all. It's such a great cheap attraction for all the family, o...  more »
  • Still wonderful, still imposing, still dramatic....I cannot understand why this castle is always so quiet! It is by far the best preserved castle in SW Wales. Do go - highly recommended.  more »

  • A castle with great history. Well worth a visit. Beside, it's a lovely small town around. Was also a filming location of the "Knights of the Coco Nut". Well preserved, much to discover. Small entrance fee. Nearby is a pub, at the gate. The Gate House Pub. Recommended.
  • Kidwelly Castle is one of the more under appreciated of the Welsh castles. It isn't as large as the likes of Caerphilly and so forth but it is still impressive nonetheless for differing reasons. It's semi-circular shape constrained by the geology and the river makes it unusual in its shape and design. It also is very well preserved due to its lack of involvement in the civil war and also featured in Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail! The site itself if well maintained with friendly Cadw staff.
  • Great Castle and so well preserved for a castle of its age. Kids will love exploring all the different rooms.
  • Very cool early castle. Smaller and not as well made as Pembroke, but lots of great history there and you can walk around on your own.
  • Lovely little tourist attraction, kept very clean and tidy, there were treasure boxes which you could interact with and they gave you actors impressions of the history behind the building.
