Roath Park captures Victorian elegance and tranquility in the heart of bustling Cardiff. Constructed in the late 19th century, the 53 hectare (130 acre) park offers various sites for recreation and leisure, including playgrounds, floral displays, and a greenhouse conservatory. Rent a paddleboat or feed the swans on the expansive lake set in the middle of the park. Fishing is also allowed on the lake with a permit. • I loved it, but I adore birds so that is what made it for me. It is a bit away from the centre, but I woudl say it's worth a visit. I spent couple of hours there, walking around, taking photos of bird...  more »
  • We had an enjoyable walk round the park on a Bank Holiday weekend. However, nice as it is, it's not glorious but a bit scruffy at the edges and could do with some investment. Cardiff Council in genera...  more »
  • I used to run around here. Gorgeous lake no matter what the weather. In the sun it's great, in light drizzle it's still worth running around. I'm not a fan of the swans but I guess they add to the amb...  more »

  • Stunning gardens. Beautiful walks. Awesome park for the kids. Peddalos available for hire. Swans, ducks and lots of other birds to watch a d feed (not bread) events on throughout year. Lovely place that you can spend all day there with picnic or pop into the cafe
  • A popular destination when the sun is shining, the gardens are beautifully kept and there is a huge outdoor park to entertain children. The lake itself is popular with walkers, joggers and families and measures roughly 2km around. Plenty to do here - but make sure you bring cash
  • Roath park continues to be a firm favourite for our family. Nice walks around the lake and gardens, which are always well maintained and full of interesting trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants. Also a great playground for the kids, with adjacent dog-free grassy area to run around in. Pack a picnic and a ball, and you can have a full day out without spending a penny. Of course, there's always the resident ice cream van, a small hut serving ice creams and drinks or the lovely cafe overlooking the lake if you fancy treating yourselves.
  • This place is my childhood. Absolutely beautiful lake and gardens and I will certainly be bringing my kids here if I have them! Will never not love Roath Park
  • Beautiful gardens with a variety of plants and flowers. Nice for a quiet walk with the wife, just to get out and sit outside on the many benches or even take the kids out and enjoy the parks play area and climbing frame. Fun for all ages.
