Principality Stadium, Cardiff

4.7
#3 of 31 in Sightseeing in Cardiff
Tourist Spot Arena / Stadium
Since opening in June 1999, the Stadium has welcomed, on average, over 1.3 million visitors per year. Sporting the first fully-retractable roof in the UK, the venue is at the leading edge as a multi-purpose, multi-faceted event venue.

The Stadium boasts a UEFA 5-Star rating and has hosted matches from two Rugby World Cups including the Final in 1999, witnessed two Wales Grand Slam successes in the RBS Six Nations, staged six showpiece FA Cup Finals plus hosted the major artists of the music business with a plethora of major concerts and motorsports events on its CV.

The installation of a partition drape system in July 2005 now means that the bowl of the Millennium Stadium can be used for multiple concert mode configurations and for staging exhibitions. Millennium Stadium will also play its part in the London 2012 Olympics as a host venue for the football competition.

The stadium renamed to Principality Stadium following a partnership with Principality Building Society on January 22nd 2016.

  • Such a great place to watch rugby. Perfect location within the city. Prices within for drinks are a lot better than they could be. Food options are limited, but all around the stadium is a wealth of food choices. In my opinion this is the best stadium in the country.
  • Recently went here for the Robbie Williams concert and we were very happy with the show and stewards they were all very helpful and informative. Robbie rocked the show and it was a fantastic night. Can't wait for Robbie Williams to return here soon. Thanks.
  • Excellent service getting into the arena...fast and no issues with a que. However once inside there was no air the temperature inside was too much with 50000 people and made us ill with the heat in there. Hot summers day. Roof closed and not one bit of air con felt.
  • By Far the best place I have been to see rugby. I guess I am biased as a Wales fan but the seats are always great no matter where you sit. The stadium is clean and well laid out. Its easy to find where your going. The best time to be there is when the roof is closed and everyone is singing.
  • Great venue. Very well organised coming into the stadium and inside. Fab atmosphere for any concert in Cardiff.
