Llandaff Cathedral, Cardiff

Categories: Sacred & Religious Sites, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.5/5 based on 380+ reviews on the web
With a history stretching back to the sixth century, Llandaff Cathedral calls to mind the legend of King Arthur, who is even depicted in a stained-glass window. The cathedral has been threatened twice: once in the time of King Henry VIII, when pilgrims and their maintenance-supporting donations were forbidden, and again during World War II due to a landmine. In this century, you’ll see that the cathedral remains well-maintained and features a distinctly evocative statue of Christ by the sculptor Jacob Epstein. Take a look around this cathedral and learn a little about the history of the Catholic church in Wales. • Absolutely divine experience! You must participate to the service! Suitable for everybody as Sunday, is every one and a half hour another one. Pictures tells you more than I can say? Recommend to everybody if is religious person or tourist.
  • A hidden gem in Cardiff. Beautiful and touching cathedral in a relaxed old neighborhood.
  • Beautiful cathedral in a beautiful setting. Well worth a walk through the wonderfully overgrown churchyard. Moving memorial chapel to war casualties. Knowledgeable staff. Striking Epstein sculpture & interesting Rossetti painting featuring Coleridge & William Morris. Don't miss the classic vantage point from the hill through the hole in the wall. Also good pubs nearby!
  • Well worth a visit. Impressive size.
  • This cathedral is most certainly worth a visit. There was only one thing I didn't like, which was the modern piece in the centre of it. I usually like the combination of modern and old, but here it seemed out of place. The staff (or volunteers) are very friendly and helpful.
