Llandaff Cathedral, Cardiff

(4.6/5 based on 400+ reviews on the web)
With a history stretching back to the sixth century, Llandaff Cathedral calls to mind the legend of King Arthur, who is even depicted in a stained-glass window. The cathedral has been threatened twice: once in the time of King Henry VIII, when pilgrims and their maintenance-supporting donations were forbidden, and again during World War II due to a landmine. In this century, you’ll see that the cathedral remains well-maintained and features a distinctly evocative statue of Christ by the sculptor Jacob Epstein. Take a look around this cathedral and learn a little about the history of the Catholic church in Wales. • The cathedral city within a capital city - Llandaf - is a pleasure. A tranquil haven 2 miles or so from the city centre, easily walkable through Bute Park and Potcanna Fields in 45-50 mins or by no.24...  more »
