  • The city offers good services to its people such as a place to study and to access the internet. You can also buy the bus ticket card (iifcard) there.
  • I spend a lot of time in libraries doing research, so was eager to take a look at Cardiff's main library. So much different than what I have experienced in the. past, with not so many books on display...  read more »
  • Thank you Cardiff Council for supplying the not so little gem, great location and free for all walks of life. Also has a great view of Cardiff
  • Lunching nearby I had an email that my book was ready for me to pick up. I sauntered over to the library and, in view of my promptness the book was still on the fourth floor. I took advantage of the additional exercise (after the initial escalator ride) and found the volume waiting for me. The staff were helpful and pleasant and the book brand new. I looked around for a place to sit and there were some despite the busyness of the place. Not comfy seats but then perhaps it's best not to encourage us to sit around for too long. Glad to be getting into libraries both physical and digital. Happy to have for free what would have meant forking out some dosh. Good to have some payback on the old rates.
  • Stunning library. Has everything you could wish for and more. I would come here just to sit and look out at the views across the city!
  • It used to be a good place to work. It was a lot quieter, with its own wi-fi and with comfy chairs on wheels with over chair folded tables for books or laptops.. One could wheel the armchairs close to a socket and plug their laptops and work by the windows.. Well, not anymore..Due to Health and Safety, these sockets aren't in use and the only place one can plug in a laptop is in "designated areas" that look like open plan offices with many people working on their computers - oh, and no view! Maybe there are fewer armchairs because of health and safety.. is it the wheels? Cardiff free wifi is now what's available and doesn't always work.. Design + user experience vs health and safety...
  • The closing time says 6pm but if you're not moving to leave ten minutes before closing time there will be a very rude security on hand to prompt you; 'hello? Staff have got a home to go to' which I could hear three levels down. He then called out about lost property to the ground security staff and dropped the item from the top floor. The library looks like an office building with no comfortable seating area for adults. And with a booming voice talking over the intercom doesn't give the feeling of a library. Very upset that I can't relax and read a book in my library with ease!
  • We are lucky and fortunate people to have such an amazing library. No, it isn't as quiet as libraries used to be, it is largely populated by people browsing, working, listening or occasionally talking, bantering and gossiping and ever so occasionally someone answering a phone. I miss the old wall-high wooden shelves, but understand why they can't have them in modern buildings. The staff are wonderful and helpful. If your kid is annoying just place them near a loudspeaker when the announcement is made at around 5pm that the library is closing - my kid nearly jumped out of his skin. The kids area is awesome, plenty of room and few restrictions on how kids can play - as it should be. I'm incredibly proud of my city for giving us this amazing facility, and to top that off, the Manic Street Preacher opened it. Before the last refit, where the council took over one floor, musical events, workshops and readings made coming to the library a delight. I hope they keep this up - it is appreciated.
