Once the grounds of Cardiff Castle, Bute Park exists as the principal park in the city of Cardiff, with 52 hectares (130 acres) of landscaped gardens and parkland straddling the River Taff. Explore Blackfriars friary, an excavated ruin of a medieval friary. The arboretum boasts a varied selection of trees, many of which are the largest in the UK. Follow the herbaceous border while using the park's plant guide to learn about the species of plants within the park. Search for the many sculptures within, especially the wooden carvings made from old tree stumps. A handy place to rest, the West Lodge offers a visitor information center, tearoom, and public toilets. • A huge, beautiful and peaceful park with many varied areas, including children's playgrounds. It's particularly charming by the water.
  • I took a 3-hour walk in that park. Really calming and refreshing. Lots of nice nature. quiet. peaceful.
  • This park is just a blast. Beautiful, big, nice to walk. Nice to rest, nice to practice sports, nice to do a picnic or bbq... it's just brilliant. I'd like London to have places like this!!
  • Good family and children friendly place. Walk. Picnic, there is a place to hire bikes, beautiful nature to wonder about. Excellent options for places serving food and drinks.
  • Some of my best days out with friends have been here. Peaceful and lovely
  • A huge park in the city centre. Perfect for running, biking on the taff trail or just enjoy a walk with your dog. Lots of green spaces and grass to enjoy sunny days.
  • Wonderful resource in the city centre. The park is well maintained and well used. When I worked in Cardiff, this was my destination in summer lunchtimes. Beautifully suitable for alfresco dining, walking, running, cycling or just sitting down under a tree. On one occasion, after missing the last train home, I came here for a nap under a tree. Not the best choice I ever made, but no harm came to me. In fact I was woken at 3am to check I was okay. Good Samaritans in a park at that time on a Saturday morning? I'm not suggesting that use, but just an anecdote. I truly think that this park, as a part of the whole, contributes to the overall experience of wellbeing and happiness that living in Cardiff recently won an award for.
