Bute Park, Cardiff
(4.7/5 based on 1,100+ reviews on the web)
Once the grounds of Cardiff Castle, Bute Park exists as the principal park in the city of Cardiff, with 52 hectares (130 acres) of landscaped gardens and parkland straddling the River Taff. Explore Blackfriars friary, an excavated ruin of a medieval friary. The arboretum boasts a varied selection of trees, many of which are the largest in the UK. Follow the herbaceous border while using the park's plant guide to learn about the species of plants within the park. Search for the many sculptures within, especially the wooden carvings made from old tree stumps. A handy place to rest, the West Lodge offers a visitor information center, tearoom, and public toilets. Arrange your visit to Bute Park and discover more family-friendly attractions in Cardiff using our Cardiff vacation trip planner.

  • This place is lovely on a sunny day, you can either be energetic and go for a walk or throw a frisbee, or just kick back and relax with a good book
  • Sleeping on the grass season is good, was dazed or read a book lying around, or sports. Benches and flowers are kept, loose and flowing river. (Everyone is swimming in! ) Is a soothing spot in Cardiff.

  • The park is a pleasant surprise in the middle of a city such as Cardiff. Good for joggers and walkers alike.

  • Beautiful park just a short walk from the busy city centre. No much to do particularly in terms of activities or amenities, but in good weather it's a great walk, particularly the stretch alongside the river. Great wide open spaces for big groups as well as comfortable corners.
  • A very lovely park indeed! enjoyed the great morning walk and rows of beautiful huge trees lining the walks! there are also open spaces available throughout the park where you can snaps really nice candid photos !
  • One of the loveliest areas in Cardiff. The perfect place to go (anytime of the year) for a walk. A few hidden coffee shops are located throughout the park as well as small outdoor activities for kids and lots of wildlife. Ideal location for summer picnics for large groups or families with small children!
  • Beautiful park. Nice and green. Beautiful flower walk right along the river just after where the boat leaves, and quite a few squirrels. You can walk along the natural path by the river that bikes can't go up (starts near Secret Garden Cafe) and that's really beautiful and tranquil when you get further in.
  • I always use the car park here as it is so central. The walk to the shopping area is through the beautiful park with plenty to see and do along the way. Tree climbing is actually encouraged although it is a while sine I climbed a tree for fun.
