Where to stay in Canterbury

To explore Canterbury at your own pace, book your rooms at a family-run hotel in the heart of this historical city. Staying in this area keeps you close to all of the city's main historical sites, as well as its major shopping center. Family-run hotels offer traditional values, warm hospitality, and fully-licensed bars and restaurants, all at a fraction of the cost of the big hotel chains. For an equally comfortable and affordable stay, consider one of many centrally located guesthouses, which feature elegant rooms and covered courtyards.

  • We had eight super hungry Canadians looking for a decent place to have fish n chips and happened upon the Old Buttermarket. It was perfect. The food was delicious and service was quick. The waitress we had was incredible and super friendly. We had a fantastic time!
  • Wonderful service with a very good staff. They all seemed like they actually wanted to be there!!! Smiles on the faces and happy to strike up and maintain good conversation as well. Beer was cool and flowing, all in all great place to have a bite and a few pints.
  • A Nicholson pub in my opinion is a good pub. Good beer good food and some history too. A pub with a story.
  • Great pub/restaurant. Gets busy. Book or get there early! Located smack bang in the middle of Canterbury, in the Cathedral Square. Great food, atmosphere and prices aren't not a rip off! Highly recommended
  • Good Service and Tasty Food! I have visited this pub on a few occasions over the past 8 years and have anyways found a warm welcome. There is a great selection of beers, wine, and local ciders. The food is served quickly and is of a very good standard. Whenever I visit Canterbury I always come here for a family lunch. We have never been disappointed. The managers are very friendly and welcoming. Honestly, I know I'll be back on my next visit.
