Where to stay in Canterbury

To explore Canterbury at your own pace, book your rooms at a family-run hotel in the heart of this historical city. Staying in this area keeps you close to all of the city's main historical sites, as well as its major shopping center. Family-run hotels offer traditional values, warm hospitality, and fully-licensed bars and restaurants, all at a fraction of the cost of the big hotel chains. For an equally comfortable and affordable stay, consider one of many centrally located guesthouses, which feature elegant rooms and covered courtyards.

  • Lovely Park and kept well. Feel safe however you need to be cautious during the evenings and night time. Notice this over the last 25-30 years of traveling in and out of this area.
  • Off the beaten track a bit as far as Canterbury standards. We had a picnic lunch here and for a while we were the only ones other than a friendly duck that came out of the nice little river there. Would love to go again.
  • Found a bench on quite a nice hot day with lots of people out and about, so plenty of seating it would appear. Nice little coffee shop in the park, and just outside of the shopping areas so a nice place for a break.
  • Pleasant, well-kept, public gardens connecting the East station with the town centre. Unusual play are for children, super for a picnic on a sunny afternoon. Great meeting point with a good cafe. Home to the Canterbury Food Festival, which is one of my highlights of the year!
  • Its cool, usually very busy all times of day and night. There is a play park for kids.
