Oakwood Theme Park, Canaston Bridge

Categories: Theme Parks, Water & Amusement Parks
Inspirock Rating:
1.9/5 based on 1,700+ reviews on the web
Originally a small family park, Oakwood Theme Park now offers large thrill rides and colorfully themed areas. If you're an adrenaline-seeker, hop aboard Megafobia. Many enthusiasts rate the 26 m (85 ft) tall wooden roller coaster among the best in Europe. On Speed, let out a scream as you take a 97-degree plunge on Britain's first Euro-Fighter roller coaster. Somewhat tamer pleasures await on waterslides and the swinging pirate ship. Head to the Neverland area for rides and attractions based on the world of Peter Pan. The park offers a handful of dining facilities serving up fish and chips, pasta, burgers, and chicken. Check the weather before your visit, as rides occasionally close due to high winds, thunder, or lightning. • The website unhelpfully, and perhaps, dishonestly suggests under 2's are allowed on some rides and children under 1.2 metres need adult supervision. Well under 2's are not allowed on any rides even wi...  read more »
  • Having been pestered by the kids, who wanted something other than nature in the holidays (well they had had five days of walking in the countryside) we decided to hit Oakwood. Staff were helpful and f...  read more »
  • Booked tickets on line so was cheaper than paying on the day . Would recommend coming on a day that's dry but not sunny to avoid queues . Although it was overcast Drench ride was closed so was bounce ...  read more »
  • Complete nightmare! We went to Oakwood Theme Park yesterday (18/06/16) When we got there I thought there was something not right, because we was able to park in the second row of the car park, and there was still a large amount of parking still around us, which is a rarity on any day, alone on a Saturday at 11am, anyway to our dismay, we then found out by a tiny board outside the ticket booths, that 3 out 4 top rides were CLOSED WFT! Megafobia CLOSED! Bonce CLOSED! Speed CLOSED! very disappointing to say the least! but we had traveled over 2 hrs to get there, time, fuel costs and we had 3 little one's with us as well, plus some discounted tickets (BONUS), we weighted things up and decided to stay. Omg Spooky 3D was working OK, but the rest of area it is a complete building site! some of the neverland rides were closed as-well! the staff controlling the rides (nice people btw) were working on a rotation bases? (SHORT STAFFED?), BONUS is you like Vertigo it was half price, only because 3 out 4 Top rides were still down, there was seagulls every where trying to share you dinner with you (lol) I've been coming to Oakwood since it opened in 1987 and its been a fantastic place for an amazing family days out! and its the only theme park in Wales! but over the last 5-6 years the park has been looking really shabby, tired and run down! We spoke to a few other people at the park and they said exactly the SAME! I will never ever return to Oakwood until they sort they're act OUT! Sad but True!
  • After posting a negative review last year, I am pleased to say I had an amazing day and the organisation and despatch times on the coasters was amazing. Can't wait for next time
  • I visited Oakwood on 5/7/16 with Roath Park Primary School Year 6 children .We all had a wonderful time ! Special thanks to Roy D who helped with a child in a wheelchair. He went out of his way and came with us to all the rides she wanted to go on and helped. Thank You !
  • Travelled along way with 3 kids 17,15 and 12.Schoo week off so expected large numbers-Got there on time for 10 am but first ride megaphobia didn't get running till 10.45.The the roller coaster Speed was shut all day. Drenched ride shut all day too. Bobsleigh diidnt have enough working sleighs so long waits .Waterfall didn't open till one and by then the kids were fed up with queing as the snake river falls ride had one operator for 4 flumes and couldn't organise the queue-one flume then broke down and that queue was let in before ours. So we had a very frushstrating time. Park need to have more staff. All in all very very expensive for what was on offer. Wouldn't advise going there
  • When I went, I got stared at all day and couldn't fathom why. We had to stop in a town on the way to buy a coat for the missus as the weather was sunny but a bit cold when it went in and it started there. Then the penny dropped, I was sporting a new England football shirt the missus had just bought me. We all know how patriotic and proud these Welsh are and it gets worse the further you go into Wales. They pronounce their LL's like C's, well all I can say is get f*cked you bunch of llunts. Only kidding I'm part Welsh, somebody's got to be....
