Oakwood Theme Park, Canaston Bridge
(1.9/5 based on 1,700+ reviews on the web)
Originally a small family park, Oakwood Theme Park now offers large thrill rides and colorfully themed areas. If you're an adrenaline-seeker, hop aboard Megafobia. Many enthusiasts rate the 26 m (85 ft) tall wooden roller coaster among the best in Europe. On Speed, let out a scream as you take a 97-degree plunge on Britain's first Euro-Fighter roller coaster. Somewhat tamer pleasures await on waterslides and the swinging pirate ship. Head to the Neverland area for rides and attractions based on the world of Peter Pan. The park offers a handful of dining facilities serving up fish and chips, pasta, burgers, and chicken. Check the weather before your visit, as rides occasionally close due to high winds, thunder, or lightning. • I live in the area and have been to the park many times before but after a good 5 years I decided to go back in my teens. I was first greeted with a sign stating that 'bounce' and 'megaphobia' were cl...  more »
  • Even though some of the rides were closed, it did not damper our day and we had a great day out. As it was the end of season, it was nice to be able to go on the rides without the long queues.
  • Expensive day out. Main rides closed. Very dirty. Toilets disgusting and had to pay extra for other activities available. Would not recommend.

  • Great rides, high diversity for all ages. Staff were very helpful and friendly for the most part. Park could do with a bit of maintenance and two of the main rides (bounce and drenched) were closed when we were there. Wouldn't have had such a great experience if we had had to queue, however we had after dark and so the park was very quiet. I would recommended either after dark or fast pass to get the most out of it.
  • I've visited the park dozens of times over the years and think it's easily the best theme park in Wales! Entry fees aren't cheap, but aren't expensive by theme park standards in the UK in general. There's plenty to do once in the park and the food on site is reasonably priced (again, considering it's a theme park). There's a good mix of rides for all ages and compared to most UK attractions, tends to have reasonably small ques. If you're planning on staying nearby and having several visits to the park over a few days, you'll be a bit disappointed, as it's really not that big, but will definitely fill one busy day if you get there early enough.
  • Quite disappointing. First of all it cost £78 including a £12 discount voucher to get it which hurt! For that amount of money I was expecting quite a bit but the park really didn't deliver. We arrived in the morning but some of the main attraction rides didn't open until the afternoon and I was really annoyed to find other main attraction rides closed completely. To add insult to injury one of the rides/attractions was an additional £30 if you went on it by yourself or £15 in total if you could find two others to join you on top of the already expensive entrance fee. The shooting range cost an additional £5 per person too. A step too far. We went on all the main rides (that were open) three or four times and some other smaller rides once which lasted approximately four hours and we really stretched it out. Food was expensive so we didn't bother. In my opinion it's not the best value for money and I wouldn't visit again.
  • We visited in the October half term on a Friday. Drench, Vertigo, James and the giant peach, and another couple of rides were closed. £64.00 entry for two adults and a child. Some of the rides were open but only after certain times, so they were obviously moving staff around. We also thought that the parks guide was rubbish, there are family rides with no height restrictions on them, however when we got to them, not only did they have a height restriction but they also had an age too. An example is moon landing my son was tall enough to go on it, but when got to it he had to be 8 to go on. This happened a couple of times. So for the money we paid it was quite poor.
  • Very disappointed with Oakwood today. Bounce was shut. Spooky 3D shut due to tar marking on a busy 6 week school holiday. Never land shut. Toilets up by speed shut. They still charged me full price. Will never return here
