  • We chose to visit this museum rather than the Fitzwilliam because my husband has always been interested in the achievements of people like Shackleton. I found it much more interesting than I expected ...  more »
  • Tucked away not far from the station in Lendsfield Road this is a one off.NOwhere in the world can you visit and feel the atmospheric history of great polar explorers with original items here.  more »
  • Emotive story of arctic and Antarctic exploration - educational and interesting. Not large, but enough to keep us occupied for 90 minutes.  more »

  • A really excellent little museum. I expected to pass a quick hour - but I found myself reading every bit of the information about the explorers, the boats, the equipment, the animals and the indigenous peoples. Almost 2 hours later... It's free but a £3 donation is advised. Well worth it!
  • A very moving and thought-provoking exhibition of artefacts with good explanation and occasional special activities for kids at holiday times. Great for free!
  • Very small, free, and basic. You can learn about the different expeditions and see artifacts. Doable in 15-20 mins. Check it out if you have interest in exploration.
  • A small, free museum beautifully telling the story of British polar exploration. Also has a good selection of gifts in the museum shop.
  • Great museum about polar exploration, mainly from a British perspective. Free. Only takes an hour to browse. Stuffed penguins on display (automatic 4+ to any exhibition with them)
