Calshot Activities Centre is located on Calshot Spit near Southampton. Indoor facilities include a velodrome, dry ski slope and climbing wall.VelodromeCalshot Velodrome is the oldest indoor cycling venue in the UK. It is located inside an old aircraft hangar, is unheated and has a reputation for being rather cold. The current wooden velodrome was built in 1996 to replace an older slightly smaller wooden track. The former wooden track was a shortened version of the London six-day racing track used at Earls Court in 1967 (not to be confused with a similar track used at Wembley from 1968 to 1980).The current track is 142.85 metres long with bankings of 45˚ and straights at approximately 20˚.Calshot Winter Track League, run under British Cycling rules, is held weekly from October to February.

  • A velodrome with Dolan Track bikes, pitching for watersports/kites, two small indoor ski slopes, and an incredible selection of extra height climbing walls. The climbing zone is very impressive.
  • I use the center to kitesurf manly in winter when to tide is going out pools of flat water and there is clean changing rooms with hot showers and a cafe in the center that is open all day
  • did the 4 Hour stage 1 and 2 of the track cycling, the instructor was very nice, informative and helpful . the track its self is great and so are the Dolan track bikes.
  • So much activity packed into one space! The velodrome is great fun, especially in a group. The dry slope is a bit short but indoors so can be used in all weather. But the highlight for me is the climbing wall, which is extensive and has a good spread or grades. There are climbs there for everybody and they're generally set well.
  • I am Calshot Caravan Club member. Very expensive for what you get. Nearly £50 per year for membership and the site starts at £15 per night low season, but hookup (only 7 available and not bookable) is another £5. Facilities are very poor - shared gents & ladies toilets that need updating, showers are somewhere else (never used them). Pitches are not bookable. No hardstandings. However the views are outstanding which is why people join.
