  • Historical site of an excavated Roman Fort 2000 years old, plus a small museum of artefacts excavated in the locality and history of the occupying Roman soldiers
  • After a long walk up hill, we were disappoint to find very little to see. The centre was closed even though it was Saturday on a bank holiday weekend

  • This was actually pretty disappointing as a historical attraction, but that might have been because I'd just been to the castle and I'm not really a fan of Roman history anyways... Basically, a small interpretive centre with some artifacts, and then a bit of a grass field with stone channels. Not terribly well protected; there were some local kids acting up on the site, and bits of broken glass around. Probably a better visit if you get a guided tour and/or visit first before the overwhelming castle experience...
  • A bit confusing and lots of rubbish ..
  • A fascinating site but sadly lacking g in any useful (or indeed, any at all) interpretation or on site information. Could be so much better with some imagination and at little cost.
