Cavendish Golf Club, Buxton

4.5
#1 of 8 in Golf in Derbyshire
Cavendish opened in 1925 & was designed by Dr Alister MacKenzie. At 5721 yds the course is shorter than many however this doesn’t reduce the challenge!

  • We were recommended this course by a work colleague. We weren't disappointed, the course has great views and is a real challenge, especially when the wind blows. The greens had been hollow tinned, but...  more »

  • Amazing course - quite an open and forgiving with beautiful views all around. Greens ran true and were in great shape, however, some are extremely challenging and will test your putting skills to the max. I can't imagine what they are like in the height of summer when they are at their quickest. Suspect the course gets very wet in winter. Staff and members were friendly and welcoming. Can highly recommend this course.
  • Played today (19th October 2017) in the rain which in no way dampened our spirits. This course is a little gem and if I lived closer I would definitely join. The fairways are so inviting to hit off and the views are spectacular as the course is somewhat protected in a valley. It goes without saying the greens are a real test for any golfer. The staff in the professional shop could not be more helpful and extremely pleasant.
  • Greens were the best I've played on this year. Miss the fairway and you're in trouble. Tough course but one of the finest. Hope for good weather and low wind, it was great for us today, rain stopped as we arrived and started again an hour after we finished playing. Got to find out where they booked that.
  • Shame we'd had all that rain but good they were still playing on the greens. Would love play it in summer
  • Best Golf course in Derbyshire. Known as England's Augusta. Only a short course at less than 6000 yards but very challenging with famous McKenzie greens.
