Causeway Coastal Route, Bushmills

The Causeway Coastal Route consists of a scenic 193 km (120 mi) road weaving its way around the northern Irish coast between Belfast and Londonderry. Distinctive brown road signs direct visitors to a host of major tourist attractions, including The Giant’s Causeway, Dunluce Castle, and The Old Bushmills Whiskey Distillery, set amongst cliffs, mountains, waterfalls, and golden sands. Make sure you give yourself time to explore and enjoy unplanned adventures and tempting deviations. Some of the roads leading off the route to attractions can be quite narrow, so do take care if you’re not used to driving on small roads. • We drove from Larne so not to miss any of the route. It truly hugs the coastline unlike the Australian Great Ocean Road which dips in and out more. On a lovely day it is superb as the Glens of Antrim ...  more »
  • Just do it. It is beautiful and every corner gives a different majestic view. It is also not very busy at all, with lots of stopping places to enjoy the scenery.  more »
  • How beautiful can Ireland be? We have done a lot by bike and the rest by car. If you take the route close to the Sea (follow the M98 bicycle route) then you will be amazed by this beautiful nature. Ireland? Then the Causeway Costal route a "MUST"

  • Great experience. Worth a visit. A place of natural beauty. On your way go through Bushmills lots to see.
  • Easily one of my favorite parts of the trip. Dont worry about saving a few hours just take the coast. It is breath taking!
  • A beautiful hotel on the cliff edge of rocks over looking the Atlantic ocean and about one hundred yards from the beach a well known popular hotel for weddings and having a good dinner
  • One of the best driving routes in the world. Plenty of places to stop along it, and things to see and do!
  • We flew into Belfast, had 3 nights then hired a car from Europcar and drove for the day stopping at the major tourists sites and having an overnight stop outside Londonderry. Returned the car to the airport the next day before flying home. Wouldn't change a second of it. Brilliant!
