  • Normally the big beam engines are in steam on bank holidays. We visited with our young grandchildren, The enthusiastic staff made them very welcome and got them involved with hands on working of some of the exhibits .They loved it.
  • Visiting with a small group on 29 October 2016, we enjoyed the full "steaming" experience of the numerous operational steam engines at this site. The sheer power of the engines was really impressive, and also the enthusiastic team of volunteers that operates and maintains them. I can unreservedly recommend this venue; its "steaming" days for 2017 will soon be published. If you are looking for somewhere else to visit in this area, the National Brewery Centre in Burton upon Trent, 7 minutes away by car, is another very worthwhile attraction.
  • Amazing place with a real sense of what it would have been like in the late Victorian era. Excellent tour with a great volunteer as well.
  • Fabulous collection of steam engines. A must see place. Two minutes off the A38..
  • Enthusiasts have loving restored and look after a historic pumping station. Well worth a family visit.
