Burnham & Berrow Golf Club is a 27-hole members golf club in Somerset, England which has hosted many of the leading amateur golf tournaments in Britain, including the Brabazon Trophy and English Amateur. As of August 2014 the golf course had been rated as the 23rd best golf course in England and the 52nd best course in the British Isles by golf club review site Top 100 Golf Courses.HistoryThe club was first opened as Burnham Golf Club on a 9-hole layout designed by Charles Gibson, however the club was extended to an 18-hole layout by Herbert Fowler by 1910 and was renamed to its current name of Burnham & Berrow Golf Club. Even in its early years the course began to host high-level amateur tournaments hosting the British Ladies Amateur Golf Championship in 1906.In 1913 a further redesign of the course was made by Harry Colt which redesigned the course into much of the layout that currently still stands, the work on this redesign was completed in 1923. Following the redesigns the club would go on to host the British Ladies Amateur Golf Championship again in 1923 and 1938 and the 1930 English Amateur. The first professional at the club was John Henry Taylor, who would later go on to win 5 Open Championships and captain Great Britain at the 1933 Ryder Cup.

  • Fantastic Championship Links Course
  • first class links course
  • It is a great experience and it has a beautiful course!
  • Played here in late May on what started out as benign morning. A fantastic links golf course where if you miss a fairway you are in big trouble but a wonderful test of golf. By the time we had got to the 15th the heavens opened and the wind got up, to say it was difficult would be a gross under statement. The club house and the staff were very freindly and helpful. Definitely a course to tick on your list of favourites.
  • What a great course this is !!! I have now played it 3 times and it gets better and better. So tough when the wind blows, but what a great challenge. It is a completely natural course with some wonderful holes, especially the Par 3's. Treat yourself - give it a go !!
