  • Some nice people here who really know their stuff The main shop had some items of interest, but it needed to be sought out. They have an extensive selection of ties from the London Tie Company with patterns for almost any sport or pastime, unfortunately choral singing was not amongst them! Clive in the crystal shop impressed my wife and daughter (the latter is studying crystals and their benefits). They had a long conversation here. The lady in the gallery upstairs was quite knowledgeable about the art and artists on display and another conversation ensued, my daughter having studied art at college. Then we visited the weaving shop and here it was my turn. The weaving lady explained how her new large loom worked and how to produce patterns. It is similar to using a computer spreadsheet apparently. It was from studying looms that Ada Lovelace developed what later became known as computers. Finally, we visited the tea room and had tea and very generous portions of cake at a very fair price.
  • Good place to eat and lots of gifts and cards
  • Good lunch here. Always able to find that ' special' gift for birthdays or anniversary.
  • Very disappointed. Visited this place with my wife last year and it was a pleasurable experience. There were some good little craft units, especially the excellent quilt shop upstairs and the wonderful card making shop next door. We revisited this year and what a difference 12 months makes. Half of the units had closed down, sadly this included the 2 mentioned above, and what was left seemed half hearted at best. To say this is supposed to be a craft and design centre I saw very little of either, the main shop now seems to sell a lot of imported tat, the restaurant was below par and expensive and the whole place gave the atmosphere of a business in decline. Sorry, felt the need to write something as hopefully it will alert the centre and maybe restore it to its former glory.
