Bristol Cathedral, Bristol

4.6
It took more than 700 years to build Bristol Cathedral, considered one of the finest medieval churches in Europe. Still in operation today for worship, community service, and private prayer, the cathedral began as an Augustine abbey. Visitors can still trace the original transepts, but it’s the tall Gothic windows and pinnacled skyline that will capture your attention. To understand the full majesty of the structure, it’s best to take a step back as far as possible on College Green where it is located. Entering the cathedral, be sure to be on the lookout for surprising details, including carvings of beasts imitating people in the Elder Lady Chapel. Guided tours are available, and you can book portions of the cathedral for private candlelit dinners.  You can plan Bristol trip in no time by asking Inspirock to help create your itinerary.

  • When I entered the cathedral, I got warmly welcomed by the staff. She introduced me with the history of the cathedral in detail, which was inspiring. I also got a leaflet in my own language from her, which helps me get better understanding of the cathedral. The structure it self is amazing. Whether you look from the outside or you are inside the structure, you will be surprised by how clever and capable those ancient people were. It’s a place you must go when you visit Bristol.
  • Beautiful, and light-filled Cathedral with a lively ministry. Excellent music and good preaching, and a very welcoming Verger team to locals and visitors. Fascinating building- full of hidden quirks. Gorgeous garden at the side- well worth investigating, with memorials to various people of interest.
  • This cathedral is worth a visit. The stained glass windows are colourful and if you take the time you can find some quite old pieces in eye-level places.
  • A beautiful and serene place of worship. The place is spectacular and awe inspiring in size.
  • A place to worship with peace. Great combination of art and architecture. Worth visiting.
