North Laine, Brighton

Neighborhood Shopping
Once a slum, North Laine is now a thriving cultural quarter. The most popular activity in the area is shopping, with cafe-hopping and theatergoing coming in as close runners-up. Recognizable boutiques reside next to funky secondhand stores and local shops. Both tourists and locals frequent these shops to keep themselves at the height of fashion on the coast of Brighton. Come ready to hunt for treasures at the many architectural salvage, used-book, music, and antique shops that fill the streets. Where to stay in Brighton

During the height of the tourist season and on most weekends Brighton is a very congested city, where driving is difficult and parking is limited in the central areas most frequented by tourists. Avoid getting stressed out by staying at a self-catering apartment or a private B&B farther away from this part of town. Brighton's famous nightlife may be a bit far from there, but you can still enjoy seafront walks, good restaurants, and excellent shopping. Private seafront lodgings allow you to enjoy your stay quietly in comfort, while remaining within walking distance of Brighton's best beaches.
