  • Natural history museums have always interested me and this one was no exception. While it's a little off the beaten track (we caught a bus up there and back to the seafront afterwards), it was worth a...  more »

  • What a superb display of natural history and fossil items. They speak for themselves. Great to see the real thing and no plastic models or push button screens etc. Well done.  more »

  • "school is better than this school trip", i overheard a kid say. i thought it was an interesting place to visit, however. skeletons and stuffed birds galore.
  • It still smells of moth-balls after 30 years. Next to my school..it is still a place of wonder..bit of terror thrown in.I miss the 'Sussex' display..which had a stuffed raven in it and a label that stated that the last raven in Sussex was shot in 1956..the year i was born!...but now apparently there are a few breeding pairs around.Still..it is no longer on display..which made me feel my memory was playing tricks on me
  • Old school Victorian weirdness is good you like but not for feint hearted
  • Amazing little gem. Slightly creepy, but I think that adds to the charm. Nature enthusiast will love it!
  • Lot's of display space in a smallish space. The taxidermy is pretty good. Upper displays are too high to be able to see properly being way above head height. A good place to while away an hour.

Where to stay in Brighton

During the height of the tourist season and on most weekends Brighton is a very congested city, where driving is difficult and parking is limited in the central areas most frequented by tourists. Avoid getting stressed out by staying at a self-catering apartment or a private B&B farther away from this part of town. Brighton's famous nightlife may be a bit far from there, but you can still enjoy seafront walks, good restaurants, and excellent shopping. Private seafront lodgings allow you to enjoy your stay quietly in comfort, while remaining within walking distance of Brighton's best beaches.
