Natural history museums have always interested me and this one was no exception. While it's a little off the beaten track (we caught a bus up there and back to the seafront afterwards), it was worth a...  more »

What a superb display of natural history and fossil items. They speak for themselves. Great to see the real thing and no plastic models or push button screens etc. Well done.  more »

  • Lot's of display space in a smallish space. The taxidermy is pretty good. Upper displays are too high to be able to see properly being way above head height. A good place to while away an hour.
  • Odd but enjoyable place. Victorian stuffed birds mixed with more modern displays. An hour is fine.
  • A load of stuffed birds in Victorian cases piled so high you can't see all of them. Highlights include a jar of weasels and a jar of embalmed corn. Yes really. It's free so an OK place to go if it's raining
  • Surprisingly large building, a interesting place if you like natural history, especially if you like birds. Free entrance makes this worth it
  • Loved this place, it's very interesting. I brought a few souvenirs. Free entry

Where to stay in Brighton

During the height of the tourist season and on most weekends Brighton is a very congested city, where driving is difficult and parking is limited in the central areas most frequented by tourists. Avoid getting stressed out by staying at a self-catering apartment or a private B&B farther away from this part of town. Brighton's famous nightlife may be a bit far from there, but you can still enjoy seafront walks, good restaurants, and excellent shopping. Private seafront lodgings allow you to enjoy your stay quietly in comfort, while remaining within walking distance of Brighton's best beaches.
