  • The house is interesting and interpretation well done, the staff and volunteers were friendly. The grounds are also well-maintained. They get 4 stars. The zoo is a bit sad and is what results in the 2 stars. There doesn't seem to be any sort of conservation initiative which begs the question, why are the animals there? Nor does there seem to be any great attempt at education, which makes that question all the more necessary. Some of the enclosures should rightly be called cages (Macaws and other aviaries in particular) and are in desperate need of enrichment. Ethically, this zoo should be wound down into a petting zoo with native and domesticated species and nothing more.
