  • I just did a whirlwind jaunt and wrapped it up here for one night as a treat, I'd never been before and it looked pleasant, it was. Nice people, good food, great room, bath tub, shower view, not sting...  more »
  • The door is closed in winter, La scientist was walking around the House, Garden Center, is just healing. The following is a chance once again and I'm going to.

  • Nice house and grounds. Good for a Sunday stroll through between Brentford and Richmond. Some good pubs along the way and at either side. Space to cycle too.  more »

  • Syon House has been at the centre of so much English history since the time of the Tudors. Notable residents include Catherine Howard, Lady Jane Grey, Pocahontas, and Queen Victoria. For visitors today it offers the beautiful conservatory and gardens, as well as the lavish interiors of the main house itself. The volunteer guides were all enthusiastic, informed, and generous with their time. There is a shop, but food is only available at the neighbouring garden centre. I would recommend as the house to people with an interest in history, and the gardens to everyone (you can buy tickets to the gardens without entry to the house).
  • Nice relaxed place. Inside the house were good ceilings and marquetry and the glass house looked beautiful in the sunshine but the grounds are not up to the standard of other big houses. Poor facilities for wheelchair users, no information given at the front desk where you pay and a wheelchair took some time to arrange. Better training and organisation needed. The outside area for the cafe needs some shade.
  • As someone who went to school locally, it is a real shame that we visit historical sites further afield when this gem is on our front door! A lovingly restored house, with friendly guides in each room and beautiful gardens. There are guides and extensive information cards for most artwork. There is free parking and a garden centre next to it with some refreshments. I would love to return and spend even more time. I bought a copy of the historical local map, which was only £4. As a local, I paid £10 for entry.
  • This is one of the most extraordinary houses in greater London, and that's saying something. Under-visited - inexplicably - it is on the site of a medieval religious settlement later converted to a country house on the outskirts of the capital. Adam produced masterpiece interiors and although some of the museum quality artworks have been removed, it is still an exceptional place with great contents.
  • The house is part of the large Park and requires an entrance fee. However, it is worth it as it spectacular inside. It is still part of the estate of the Duke of Northumberland. Viewed from afar it does look like a Lego Castle! The staff inside are very knowledgable and friendly and are a credit to the property. They certainly make giving the 5th star easy
