  • I thought it was just a nice old house with not much to see inside, and now I can't thank my friend enough for making me go in and be in those rooms which I have to say I value now much more than any ...  more »
  • This is a lovely house with a warm homely feel. The Bronte connection adds to the interest. And the house is also worth a visit in its own right. We had a very enjoyable Sunday afternoon visit.
  • Brilliant location, really a part of gomersal that we can't miss i recommend people use it more and more !

  • A very mediocre experience - the rooms are largely, with the possible exception of the kitchen and sculleries ( famously easy to depict) sluggishly presented. As a history enthusiast I was disappointed. As a literary enthusiast ( Bronte sisters) better but still dull. It has such a lot to contribute to the wonderful Bronte legacy but as a stand alone museum it is uninspiring. After many years of local authority funding - poor. Best to remove the characters - especially the unfortunate female propped up between table and the wall in the dining room . The exhibits in the barn ( The Secret's Out) enjoyable.
  • Beautiful house with an interesting history.
  • The home of the North Kirklees Literary Festival
  • Smelly
  • The museum is a restored house for an historic local family. There is also lots of info on the history of the local area.
