Bradford Industrial Museum, established 1974 in Moorside Mills, Eccleshill, Bradford, United Kingdom, specializes in relics of local industry, especially printing and textile machinery, kept in working condition for regular demonstrations to the public. There is a Horse Emporium in the old canteen block plus a shop in the mill, and entry is free of charge.History of the siteIn Yorkshire, a mill is a textile factory. The original mill was built by John Moore in 1875 for worsted spinning. In 1919 the clock tower was built as a war memorial to those lost in World War I, and two floors were added. The mill was later sold to W & J Whitehead, who ran the ring spinning machine which is still in the spinning gallery. In 1970 Bradford Council bought the mill and it opened as a museum on 14 December 1974.Put Bradford Industrial Museum into our Bradford trip planner to see other points of interest to visit during your vacation in Bradford.

Bradford Industrial Museum Reviews
Having found ourselves visiting friends in Bradford in early February, we quickly shelved the idea of a bracing country walk after stepping into the freezing sleet and blustery wind. So, the museum it... more »
Was a nice place on a wet day with lots going on a demonstrations. Buttons to press and people to help. Shame there's no horses any more. more »
You really feel like you're stepping back in time here! Seeing how the workers lived and what they worked with is fascinating. The place is clean and well-maintained. They could improve the lifts for ... more »
Amazing place especially considering its completely free. Donations can be made. A great educational experience. The museum has various volunteers who hold a great deal of knowledge and experience. Volunteers are always willing to chat and answer questions. All the staff and volunteers are extremely pleasant and helpful. Would greatly recommend
Great displays, especially of history of printing. There was a blacksmith in the smithy and it was fascinating to watch him. There was also a good photography exhibition when were there. The only downside is that there is no café, just machines for coffee etc.
We visited last Saturday with friends from Canada. When we got there it was lunch time and the mill owners house was not open but as soon as I asked at reception someone obliged and opened it up for us . We all enjoyed the "back to back" houses and there was a lot of activity going on in the actual mill with some of the machinery. printing presses and looms operating. There are interesting stories about the lives of the women and children who worked in the spinning and weaving all around the walls and we thought the information boards throughout the museum had been improved since we last were there. This museum has something for everyone and needs our support to flourish. Admission is free but please leave a donation - there is a box just in front of the shop that advertises the fact that the museum can claim "gift aid" on the donations placed in there. Our visit lasted around 3 hours and everyone was really enthusiastic about it, our Canadian visitors absolutely loved it in fact everyone we take there does. We would like to thank the staff for their kindness and hope to be able to visit for many years to come, there is always something new to see and the current photographic exhibition "Grafters" is well worth seeing. Go soon!!!
A belting good place. There is a floor done as a cotton mill and another has working belt driven machinery. There are many historical details.
Very enjoyable and informative. Grandson (2 yrs) found it entertaining and said it was a good day. For the young a great insight into how Bradford has changed iver the past century; for myself a nostalgic walk down memory lane - I grew up during the 50's/60's and lived in the way it is portrayed. A MUST VISIT
