Took my Dad here for a trip out on his birthday and we both had a great time. The museum has so much to see and so many tanks to learn about and stories from the people who manned them in various wars. I would highly recommend going. The restaurant is very good too.
Amazing museum of armour, everything from "Mother" to Afghanistan warfare, with the added advantage of model weekend. Something for everyone, really well laid out, and in the summer there is the outdoor display. Stationed here in the early eighties, it's been fantastic going back to my "tankie" spiritual home. A marvelous day out whose ticket lasts a year. Gift aid your admission, it enables them to claim the tax back.
Well done - I went for Tiger days. This museum is awesome. I walked around and was thinking of my review and l could not think of something that wasn't right. The museum covers a lot of armor, is divided well into era's and has some unusual displays. For hands or climb on displays, it is probably the premier tank museum I have been to. The sheer amount of armor on display and in the conservation shed is mind-boggling. I would be hard pressed to decide if I liked this museum or the German Army museum in Munster better. I think possibly there are more artifacts here but less on display (rather than the conservation shed). Very well done museum and the staff was awesome.
Really interesting, even as someone with no particular interest in military history or equipment. It's pretty big and there are various different sections and displays. My 4 year old enjoyed looking round and liked the soft play area at the end. The coffee shop is more of a kiosk and the coffee wasn't great as it was made with powdered milk, but there's plenty of seating. The ticket price is expensive for one visit but includes an annual pass so you can get really good value out of it if you're able to go back.
Myself and the 3 boys I took really enjoyed the museum. We spent 6 hours there and only left because it was closing. I've been to the museum before and it's great to see how it's growing and expanding. The two play areas were appreciated, the display of tanks driving in the arena was good, and the tracked vehicle ride was fun (but not quite a tank!). We paid extra for that ride. Kids activity books were used keenly, and there were some battle boards with plastic figures that they also appreciated. There is so much to see and do. Very, very good day out. Boys aged 10, 8 and 7.
