(1,000+ reviews on the web)
Landmark
The Model Village is a one-ninth-scale replica of the Cotswold village of Bourton-on-the-Water, officially opened in 1937. Its remarkable detail took local craftsmen five years to create. The model represents how the town looked in the 30's and provides an interesting glimpse into the past. Examine the details of the village and discover its quirks and delights. Stand close to the town’s churches to hear the choir singing. Be sure to look out for the model of the Model Village itself. For a small surcharge you can also visit the Miniature World exhibition of highly detailed miniature scenes and room sets, including several moving miniature characters. The creation of this exhibition involved over 100 of England’s leading miniaturist craftsmen and women. • A lovely half hour outing. Amazing detail on model houses. What a shame about so many plastic doors on the models. These should be replaced to give the models a more traditional look.  more »
  • This is definitely worth a visit as it has been well designed and the best part i liked was the model of the model village within. The model, the music within the model church and the model exhibition...  more »
  • Quaint little model village that is nice to walk around and very reasonably priced, but it did only take us about 20 minutes to look around.  more »

  • A lovely model village at a price that won't bankrupt you and your family. It is a scaled 1:9 of bourton itself. The houses are well made and the upkeep of the place is very good. You won't be there all day ,maybe an hour at the most.there is also a miniature world which you have to pay an additional £1 each to see, but it is very good. All in all I nice little afternoon place to visit.
  • Had a really nice time with the kids here. There's an amazing amount of detail in the models and was a really nice environment. The washroom facilities were excellent.
  • Charming beyond measure. Sounds lame on paper but looking at all the lovingly created details is a true joy.
  • Definitely worth a visit after seeing the town, much better than I had anticipated with excellent models of the buildings.
  • Bit of a damp, drizzly day. Nice model village albeit a little dated and worn.
