Cotswold Motoring Museum, Bourton-on-the-Water

Categories: Specialty Museums, Museums
Inspirock Rating:
4.5/5 based on 1,000+ reviews on the web
Discover an extensive collection of motoring memorabilia and toys from the 20th century at Cotswold Motoring Museum. The museum features a large collection of vintage and classic cars and motorcycles, campers, and original enamel motoring signs. Listen for period music as you peruse photos and items from past eras, most notably the extensive toy collection. Housed in the museum is "Brum," from the popular BBC children's television series; you can make a brass-rubbing of the car as a souvenir. The museum also displays periodically changing motoring exhibitions. Don't be fooled by the appearance: The museum is much larger than it seems from the outside. • A must see place. Is does not look big when you first go in, but it is. The are many great examplrs of classic cars and bikes as well as some transport related toys. Look out for "Brum".
  • Decent collection for a small village and friendly staff. Some decent items in the crammed display space. Some items did feel nostalgic. If you have been to nicer bigger ones, like Beaulieu, don't bother. Save your money for something else.
  • Worth a visit - loads of really old memorabilia and stories attached to the cars. We aren't car mad but still enjoyed wondering around and seeing Brum
  • Lots of beautiful old cars. Larger than I expected. Nice collection.
  • Was there Summer 2013, absolutely the best small car museum hands down and really wasn't so small. Didn't know it even existed until I was traveling the Cotswolds on vacation and drove into town. Fee was a bargain after all those expensive castles and whatnot. Even saw an MG TD like my father drove when I was a child. Real fun if you like classic British cars.
