#22 of 25 in Golf in Scottish Highlands
On 29th of September 1904 Mrs Carnegie of Skibo opened Bonar Bridge, Ardgay Golf Club. Set in some of the most spectacular scenery in Sutherland with Rolling Hills, Purple Heather, Scots pine and views over Loch Migdale.

Peter Alliss describes Bonar ''as a mini Gleneagles''.

The course has also been voted the most picturesque 9 hole course in Scotland.

The Club has had several reincarnations in its history until the current layout was built in 1994 and opened in 1998.

The club extends a warm Highland welcome to all, and only 45 minutes north of Inverness on the Struie road. Which offers you the chance to see one of Sutherland's most famous sights ‘'The Million Dollar view‘'.

The course has something for everyone no matter what your ability. A recently completed practice facility with two nets, bunker and putting green offers you the chance to have a good warm up before taking on the course.

Golf clubs and trolleys are available for hire. Lessons are also available but must be booked in advance.

From March to September the Club offers catering seven days a week which is provided by Lowecroft Catering, a hearty bowl of soup and other hot and cold delights await after nine or eighteen holes.

  • Great venue, well looked after and lovely food. We were here for a tree planting course (off the golf course 🤣).
  • We played this beautiful course in late September, as part of our Highland 9s 'tour'...we received a very warm welcome from Victoria and ate tasty food before heading out. Every hole is so different and we all vow to return...and play better! ..even Kay, who chipped in for an incredible 3 on #18. Thanks to all at Bonar Bridge for this wonderful experience from the 4 ladies from Pitlochry Golf Club
