The Blackpool Tower, Blackpool

(3.9/5 based on 7,000+ reviews on the web)
Take in some of the best views of northwest England from the top of The Blackpool Tower. The city's version of the Eiffel Tower opened in 1894 and stands about 158 m (518 ft) tall. Today it holds a place on Britain's list of Grade I buildings for its architectural and historical significance. Head into the 4-D cinema at the bottom for a special effects-enhanced history of Blackpool's iconic tower. Next, take the elevator up to the glass-enclosed skywalk for a panorama of the Irish Sea and the Blackpool area. On a clear day, you'll be able to see the Isle of Man sitting between England and Ireland. Do check the weather before visiting, though, because high winds occasionally restrict access to the top. • Attended the dancing with dementia event today with my mum and residents and staff from her care home. What an amazing day was had by all !! Excellent entertainment, attentive and polite staff, beautiful afternoon tea! Was amazing to see so many smiles on the faces of the elderly.. even better watching them dancing!! WELL DONE BLACKPOOL TOWER YOU MADE A LOT OF PEOPLE HAPPY TODAY😃
  • Been here loads of times, this visit was purely for the circus. Friendly, helpful staff. The circus was amazing and very funny. Highly recommend. We are planning our next visit as we speak as we didn't get chance to do everything the tower has to offer. Did manage to catch some of the light show outside which was brill.
  • Free entry into the building allowing access to the balconies around the ball room where there is always something going on and the food outlets and foyer areas. An excellent place to break your journey along the sea front or to spend the entire day if you want to pay for the additional attractions which are all a worthwhile experience.. eg ride to the top of the tower for the views and to walk on the glass floor, afternoon tea in the ballroom, dancing, the circus, the dungeons , kids play area etc. Just enjoy what this iconic building has to offer
  • Lovely old place. Free to enter but everything costs unless you have Merlin annual passes like our family does. Cheap paying tickets available though. Tower itself is spectacular. Inside is grand & well looked after. Plenty of heritage that's been kept & in keeping. Quirky corridors & layout. Going up the tower is great fun. 4d cinema OK but can skip if not to your liking. Long queues at busy times. Lift takes around a minute to the top. Family OK with that, even the nervous 6 year old. Glass floor (in parts) at the top easily avoided if feint hearted, but fun if you feel up to it. That level all enclosed. We did the tower both day and night, both in good visibility & very different experiences. Illuminations spectacular at night, lovely views when sunny & clear. Well worth a visit, especially when going to the very top in the fresh air. Plenty of guard rails to keep you feeling safe.
  • Fantastic! Utterly Awesome! Crazy! Killer View’s! Insane glass floor! Nauseating height! Great ballroom! Garish circus! Rapid ascent on the 69 second lift! Excellent 3D showing! Amazing dancing! Terrific and an absolute must.
