The Blackpool Tower, Blackpool

3.9
#2 of 8 in Theme Parks in Lancashire
Take in some of the best views of northwest England from the top of The Blackpool Tower. The city's version of the Eiffel Tower opened in 1894 and stands about 158 m (518 ft) tall. Today it holds a place on Britain's list of Grade I buildings for its architectural and historical significance. Head into the 4-D cinema at the bottom for a special effects-enhanced history of Blackpool's iconic tower. Next, take the elevator up to the glass-enclosed skywalk for a panorama of the Irish Sea and the Blackpool area. On a clear day, you'll be able to see the Isle of Man sitting between England and Ireland. Do check the weather before visiting, though, because high winds occasionally restrict access to the top. • Obtained tickets for attractions on line before we visited. We went to the 4d cinema, which was great for adults and kids alike, then a trip to the top of the tower, don't forget to stand on the glass when you're up there. A great experience and brilliant views if Blackpool and the surrounding areas. There is also a small bar up there for refreshments if you need them. After the tower trip we had tickets for the circus in the wonderful old surroundings all decorated in golden panels. A true sight to be seen. Circus was brilliant with varied acts and comedy from the clown .Well worth a visit. There are other attractions within the tower best to check which ones you want to visit online before you go
  • Great iconic place to visit when you go to Blackpool or the surrounding areas. Starts with a brilliant 4D movie followed by a lift that's about a minute long whist getting told about the tower. At the top there is a beautiful view with a brilliant glass floor around the edge which is so fun to stand on. One child laid on the floor in a star shape whist her mum took a photo others got told off by there mum for going anywhere near the structurally sound see through floor. Complete with a tiny bar of cocktails and mocktails. It was a fun experience that I'd recommend to anyone who's going.
  • The Blackpool Tower is a great place to go and visit. There are lots of attractions to go and see for all members of the family, young and old. A journey to the top of the tower is a must and if you are feeling brave standing on the glass panel looking down is quite an experience. You can climb the stairs higher and higher up the tower which affords even great views of the coast and surrounding area. I liked that there were no time pressures and could spend as long as you like looking around, plus all the staff are friendly, helpful and informative, giving you information and facts as you move around the complex.
  • Love this place. It's worth while going online and getting a big ticket... it gives you access to the tower the dungeons the ball room madam tausauds the zoo and the sandcastle. All at a cheap price and it's not a huge pay out when you get there because you can buy weeks before you go. Well worth the money.
  • Great iconic building in Blackpool which is well loved. The circus is fantastic and has amazing acts!! No animals. Not a cheap day out but nice for a treat. Going to the top of the tower is expensive for what it is. It’s a good experience to do at some point in your life though especially if you are scared of heights. You can see for miles and miles around from the top. It’s amazing! I would recommend, but it’s not cheap.
