  • The guide there was a lovely man who knew his stiff. As in Orkney set beautiful place. Would go again just to get flour
  • The mill is open during the summer months for tours. Always call in advance to check if open as tours are run by volunteers. Excellent hands on experience at Orkney's last remaining working watermill. Bere barley is grown by the mill (ancient landrace of barley brought to Orkney by the Vikings) and milled into beremeal (pron. bear). Highly recommended. Sited on the main road above BIRSAY village and the Palace. Great to visit en route to the Brough and make a day out in BIRSAY.
