I found this house on line it looked very good and when we visited it was amazing. Loads of history, very good for kids, mine really enjoyed exploring the rooms. Gardens need a bit of attention but it...  more »

We visited last Sunday. We had a lovely visit. The volunteer staff in the house were very helpful and knowledgeable. We did think that £8.00 was a bit expensive for an adult entry, especially as the l...  more »

The site is not of the best designed and we were relied on google maps schedules. Beautiful mansion seen from the outside, and beautiful gardens. No luck, we stumbled upon an exceptional closing for cause of... "football match" (no comment about it). Result: no visit, round-trip train tickets purchased for nothing, lost afternoon. Thanks bad coordination with google.

  • Lovely house and gardens (unfortunately didn't see much of them due to the rain). Interesting history as well as knowledgeable and friendly staff. No tours were on when we went so made our own way around, but staff were still spotted around to talk to you where needed. Café was a bit pricey and had very limited options for food, but did the trick. Would love to go again in the better weather.
  • Well worth a visit. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Visits of the house are by guided tour only so worth checking up on the times before going. The volunteer guides were extremely knowledgeable and the tour fascinating. The tour lasted about 75 minutes. The cafe was disappointing as it had very little choice but not surprising as there were very few visitors on the day we visited.
  • Great place to spend the afternoon with or without kids. My daughter loved the gardens and I enjoyed the tea room.
  • Great place to have a walk into the past. Brilliant staff. Abit pricey but overall a nice afternoon.
  • As a born and bred Brummie, feel terrible not giving it 5 stars, but let down a bit by having not one, but three tour guides, with two of them repeating information by their colleagues. The Hall itself is magnificent, with imposing views from its hilltop setting - and well worth a visit. The gardens looked beautiful from inside, but as the weather was awful on the day we visited, decided to head back to the car for some warmth instead.
