  • Lovely tranquil place. All presented to the usual high National Trust standard. The gardens are in the multi rooms style. The bulk of the house is not open to the public. It has been made into flats as it is only just over 100 years old, totally rebuilt after a fire. There are, however shop and tea room. Plenty of parking.
  • We went here 4 Early May Bank Holiday. It was really hot. The temperature got to 27°C. I recommend going in Spring & Summer. Its really lovely. Bring ur kids here
  • I love these national trust sites. Lots to see and do here and good for the children to learn a bit of history. Nice grounds for a walk and plenty to admire as you stroll around. Take your camera and snap away. A good few hours to lose yourself in and enjoy the tranquillity. Highly recommended.
  • National Trust garden so be prepared to pay for the visit - over £20 for a family. The gardens were presented well but as we went in February it was a bit dull and areas were closed off for restoration. The featured areas were unusual and interesting. The fossil area was disappointing. The gardens and grounds are fairly small and took little time to walk around so don’t expect to make a day of it. There is a cafe and a couple of shops within the grounds.
  • This internationally renowned garden is as magical on your fourth or fifth visit as it is on your first... The planting is as close as possible to the original and taking a walk through the individual planted area takes you to many different settings and international styles - albeit somewhat colder than most of the places depicted! I had heard about this place whilst growing up in Australia, and still get a thrill each time I visit 25 years after the first time! Especially lovely on a warm, sunny day, but I have enjoyed many hours here, with friends, having a cuppa in the cafe or just spending time with myself!
