  • Nice friendly atmosphere, decent beer and all in a historic gas lit environment. Come and see the Victorian gas lights and experience the ambiance (or gloom! Depending on your point of view!)  more »

  • The White Horse Inn or 'Dirty Nellie's' as it's known locally, is a real time capsule! It is still lit only by gas light and is a rabbit warren of small, dark rooms with wonky walls and uneven floors - you feel like you are in an episode of a period drama when you walk inside! If it's a variety of beers from around the world you are looking for, you are in the wrong pub - Nellie's only offers Samuel Adams. They do not offer top shelf drinks like other pubs - only their own brand spirits and ales - and at amazingly cheap prices too! If it's a change of pace and a unique experience you want, then this is the place!
  • Called today for a beer after rugby loved it. Fell in love with the old style of it all thank you. Well worth a visit for a beer
  • Brilliant place, a real hidden gem, when you walk in you are transported into a place straight out of dickens or any medieval fantasy, room after room all with roaring fires, walk through to find the bar (tap room) beer is reasonably priced & the staff are very friendly, well worth the visit.
  • Step back in time to a bygone era of open fires and gas lighting. Low lighting and small rooms and a higgledy-piggledy layout lend themselves to a cosy atmosphere, especially on a chilly winter evening. See where the footsteps of centuries have worn the floor tiles into a furrow in one room and imagine the range hot and steamy. A unique place to go for a pint and a natter!
  • Not been here for over 40 years, moved to London! Just as I remember it and still great.
