Swallow Falls (Rhaeadr Ewynnol), Betws-y-Coed

(4.1/5 based on 1,200+ reviews on the web)
Originally known as the Foaming Waterfall, the cascading waterfall system of Swallow Falls (Rhaeadr Ewynnol) offers dramatic views from various vantage points. Take the hiking trail to the top of the falls, which includes many rest areas for taking pictures or picnicking. While the view is more impressive with more rainfall, it can also make for treacherous footing. The falls are accessible by car or on foot from the nearby town of Betws and Coed. Be sure to carry coins for parking and entrance fees as change is not given. There is a small public house in a hotel across the street if you feel like having a warm drink after the hike. • Beautiful scenery with parking by the A5 which runs alongside. I wouldn't go out of my way just for the falls, but with a great Pub serving food opposite and trails nearby, it's a lovely place to refuel or relax and enjoy the sound of water.
  • Really lovely view - just a very short visit trip. Appreciate the need for upkeep but kids should get through for free otherwise its ¬£6 for a family of four for less than 15 minutes visit.
  • Nice spot. Enjoyed the pub. First waterfall I've ever had to pay to see.
  • Lovely waterfall even if there hadn't been much rainfall. Shame you have to pay to get in but I suppose you have the upkeep of the steps.
  • Make sure you have cash to get in, although it's not expensive. Steep steps to get close to the waterfall but beautiful scenery and pub over the road is good also!
