Swallow Falls, Betws-y-Coed

Originally known as the Foaming Waterfall, the cascading waterfall system of Swallow Falls offers dramatic views from various vantage points. Take the hiking trail to the top of the falls, which includes many rest areas for taking pictures or picnicking. While the view is more impressive with more rainfall, it can also make for treacherous footing. The falls are accessible by car or on foot from the nearby town of Betws and Coed. Be sure to carry coins for parking and entrance fees as change is not given. There is a small public house in a hotel across the street if you feel like having a warm drink after the hike. • For the lady who accused the Swallow Falls Hotel of killing a cat. Get your facts right. It was the ROYAL OAK hotel 2 miles down the road in the village.  more »
  • We were disappointed to find that, like Conwy Falls, you now have to pay to see these lovely falls, which we chose not to do. Instead, we had a brief look through the high fences along the road / foot...  more »
  • Paid my £1:50 and walked down the steps to the viewing point. Was amazed at the size of the falls, much bigger than I had expected. There are several other viewing points further down, and a must for ...  more »

  • This is my first falls after visiting UK. I liked it since I can relate it to couple of falls back in India. Refreshing falls , scenic beauty. There are steps which leads to get a better view where the falls leads to. I saw a lot of coins dropped at one place seems like one started and others followed. Main thing is that it has a entrance fee of 1.5 for all and there is no change machine. So make sure you have exact 1.5 pence with you. If you drop 2 pounds you won't get any change back and that's the reason they r calling swallow falls
  • Worth a visit if you're passing. Access to the upper falls is quite straightforward. There are quite a few stairs to the lower section. It’s all easy enough if you are reasonably fit. There is limited on road parking close to the entrance, which was free. The entrance charge seems fairly standard and the place looked maintained. At peak times it can get very busy, so allow plenty of time to get round.
  • Beautiful waterfall which is easy to get to and see (with a vehicle). There is an unmanned revolving verticle entrance barrier which takes coins only (£1.50), so bring a handful of change with you. There are 4 or 5 decent spots for views and photos. Very much worth a short trip en route to the next town.
  • Nice little spot. Limited roadside parking, but there is a pub opposite so if you're getting a bite to eat or a drink you could park there also. £1.50 a ticket, but well worth it
  • Beautiful, just an amazing view. Its £1.50/per person and that was the only problem as we didnt have any coins. You can get them from a hotel opposite on the road. And buy some snacks for kids too. Overall 5 star.
