Swallow Falls, Betws-y-Coed
(4/5 based on 1,200+ reviews on the web)
Originally known as the Foaming Waterfall, the cascading waterfall system of Swallow Falls offers dramatic views from various vantage points. Take the hiking trail to the top of the falls, which includes many rest areas for taking pictures or picnicking. While the view is more impressive with more rainfall, it can also make for treacherous footing. The falls are accessible by car or on foot from the nearby town of Betws and Coed. Be sure to carry coins for parking and entrance fees as change is not given. There is a small public house in a hotel across the street if you feel like having a warm drink after the hike. Plan to see Swallow Falls and other attractions that appeal to you using our Betws-y-Coed tourist route planner.

  • We visited on December 17th. It was absolutely incredible. We were the only people there and it was like a private viewing. It's now one of our new favourite places.
  • We have lived here 20 years and visit Betws Y Coed almost weekly. These falls are absolutely stunning especially when in full flood.
  • These falls are well worth the £1.50 entry charge. We visited in November, which is possibly a perfect time to see them because we had the place entirely to ourselves and the volume of water coming ov...  more »

  • Mother nature at her best, just on the outskirts skirts of Betws-y-coed. This beautiful waterfall is worth visiting. I'd recommend starting at the top viewing area before moving to lower platforms. A small fee needs to be paid for entry, but well worth the payment. There are steps to the bottom of the Swallow Falls which could be slippery and inaccessible for people with walking difficulties.
  • A beautiful place to visit. Well worth it
  • Lovely. Costs £1.50 per person and they only accept cash. Cash machine in the pub across the road charges £1.75 for a transaction so have change before going.
  • nuisance having to pay entry, but it's cheap and pays for the access to the viewpoints. very nice place to stop for a quick visit though.
  • Beautiful falls in Snowdonia. A small upkeep fee of £1.50 per person.
