Swallow Falls
Originally known as the Foaming Waterfall, the cascading waterfall system of Swallow Falls offers dramatic views from various vantage points. Take the hiking trail to the top of the falls, which includes many rest areas for taking pictures or picnicking. While the view is more impressive with more rainfall, it can also make for treacherous footing. The falls are accessible by car or on foot from the nearby town of Betws and Coed. Be sure to carry coins for parking and entrance fees as change is not given. There is a small public house in a hotel across the street if you feel like having a warm drink after the hike. Our walk to Swallow Falls was lovely, we started from Betws Y Coed walked up the river and continued through the forest. Approx 12k there and back. The walk was probably the best, make the most of it.... more

Very well organised with payment by the turnstile. Not too busy and we were able to get a great view. Looking for to viewing the winter after more rain!!

Too expensive to see a waterfall. We visited with the family, cost us £10 to basically see water running down some rocks. 15 minutes and we were back in the car.

Brilliant place to visit. Never fails to amaze me just how beautiful nature can be. Anyone who has not been there doesn't realise what they are missing. Have been going there for over 50 years now. Still awe inspiring. Please make an effort to go. You will not be disappointed. Plus, besides the falls itself, there are some wonderful wooded walks to enjoy also. Truly one of the wonders of Wales.

We wanted to visit a waterfall that's easy to reach with my small children. This one ticks all the boxes! Easy parking, just a short walk from the parking space, beautiful view to take photos. Really recommended if you want an easy to reach place.

There is a £2 fee to go through a turnstile at the top of the waterfalls, cash or card/contact less and the waterfall itself is quite impressive. You can view the entire waterfall from a viewing platform at the top of the waterfall as you enter through the turnstile, then follow some steps down to view the falls from another viewing platform midway down and another at the very bottom. Nice way to view the falls form different angles, although the steps can be a bit slippy when wet so be careful. Would recommend visiting in passing on the way to or from Betws-y-Coed as it will only be a short visit to Swallow Falls.

Low rating because of my experience. I’ve visited the falls many times when passing. Four years ago, it was late in the afternoon and there was no attendant. I believe we put 50p each in the turnstiles. It had always been cheap. The falls are impressive but the approach always seems to be dark and damp, which is not so pleasant. Then this year we went in again. There was an attendant who wanted £2 each. When I said “Oh that’s a big increase. It was only 50p in 2014” he called me a liar! I said, well maybe I’m mistaken and it was £1 because it was only one coin and he claimed I was still lying because he had been there for years and it had been £2 all that time. If he was joking it was in very bad taste. They HAVE put up the price and don’t seem to have made any improvements. Naturally, I won’t be going back to be insulted again.

£2 at the turnstile entry. Walking out onto benches and viewing rail overlooking the falls. There are 2 more lower viewing platforms. Well worth a visit and so close to the village my wife and I were glad we dropped in for a visit. For photos 📷 with no sun glare, try to visit morning to early afternoon.
