Swallow Falls, Betws-y-Coed

Categories: Waterfalls, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4/5 based on 1,100+ reviews on the web
Originally known as the Foaming Waterfall, the cascading waterfall system of Swallow Falls offers dramatic views from various vantage points. Take the hiking trail to the top of the falls, which includes many rest areas for taking pictures or picnicking. While the view is more impressive with more rainfall, it can also make for treacherous footing. The falls are accessible by car or on foot from the nearby town of Betws and Coed. Be sure to carry coins for parking and entrance fees as change is not given. There is a small public house in a hotel across the street if you feel like having a warm drink after the hike. • Good for either a quick stop for half an hour or so en route through Snowdonia or take a little longer and watch the power of the falls when the river is in spate on a wet day. Plenty of walking route...  read more »
  • Swallow Falls is easy to miss, even with the hotel right there. We had to backtrack. The falls are worth a visit even in the rain. Just be careful on the steps, which can be slick. There is an admissi...  read more »
  • Lovely picturesque scene. It wasn't worth planning our day around really. It's good if your passing through but there isn't a lot to it. Park in the layby just down the road. £1.50 to get in though is...  read more »
  • Mother nature at her best, just on the outskirts skirts of Betws-y-coed. This beautiful waterfall is worth visiting. I'd recommend starting at the top viewing area before moving to lower platforms. A small fee needs to be paid for entry, but well worth the payment. There are steps to the bottom of the Swallow Falls which could be slippery and inaccessible for people with walking difficulties.
  • Beautiful waterfall. You have to pay to get in through the turnstall but there it is not much of a walk. Lots of steep steps that could be slippy.
  • Well worth a visit.....very pretty but watch the rocks. Very slippy..!
  • Pretty small falls. Not really worth a detour.
  • Stunning place. If you are in the area its not a huge trek.. theres parking off the road and its a beautiful waterfall.
