  • We visited here with a 3yr old and had a fantastic time. We didn't go into the house as it was a lovely day and didn't think our 3yr old would be that interested inside. We picked up a map from reception and went on a beautiful walk through the gardens and down through the well gardens and into the woods to the riverside. We had a lovely walk along the edge of the River Tweed and past where they do the traditional salmon fishing, unfortunately we didn't time the tide properly so didn't get to watch the fishing, one to try for next time! We then followed the path back up into the woods to continue our circular walk back into the woods, which are lovely with plenty of wild garlic and bunches of bluebells. After our walk we deserved lunch so headed to the restaurant and certainly weren't dissapointed. The food was delicious with plenty to choose from. Our daughter had a kids lunch bag which was great value and very generous. After lunch we headed to the kids play area which was great, sprawling over the edge of a hillside with plenty of wooden play equipment including climbing walls, nets, scrambling areas, swings, a huge slide and a great zip wire (which we went on too!) After that it was back to the centre for ice cream! We had a great day out and easily spent nearly 5 hours in the grounds. We'll certainly be back.
  • We were short of time so only visited the grounds and tea room. Both were great and for the grounds only it was £3.50. The walk went down to the Tweed through the the Well Garden and along the river passing the Salmon fishing boats and lookout returning via a stream through impressive pine forests The tea room had a good choice of teas, cakes and coffee and the location in the old stables was quite nice with cosy cubicles meant for horses
  • Staff are lovely. The place is beautiful and peaceful. They have a lot of children's activities on and is great x
  • Charming period house on the banks of the River Tweed. You have your choice of a full tour of the house (a must do), a walk in the picture perfect grounds, tea in the stable tea room, a trip on the river Tweed in a boat taking in the beautiful scenery and history of this cross border area or some shopping in the shop! If you're on holiday in the East Berwickshire area with a day to spare then you can't do any worse than support this great house!
  • Paxton House is a fantatic stately home with beautiful grounds. Visitors to the house have the ability to take part in a house tour or simply take a relaxing stroll though the well maintained gardens. The house also features woodland and wildlife hides for wildlife enthusiasts who may be lucky enough to spot a Red squirrel. A walk though the main house garden leads to the river tweed where live salmon catching and boat rides take place during certain days. Paxton House is fantastic both for adults and children, they have a great play area featuring a zip wire! and have frequent family friendly events. Paxton Houses cafe the Stables tearoom is a lovely spot to grab a bite to eat or drink.
