Harp Bar, Belfast

4.0
The Harp Bar, situated alongside its big brother the hugely famous Duke of York, is a pub like no other. Firstly, it is a proper public house for the mature drinker selling crisps, dulse, coffees, independent draught beers and extensive whiskies and at all times “Belfast Craic” with a huge heart. Secondly, it is a live music venue on two floors hosting home-grown talent from the likes of Van Morrison etc. Both of these factors attempt to recreate the once famous “atmosphere” synonymous with its predecessor the 1970’s Harp Bar. The Harp, incorporating the Dunvilles & Swinging Diddy Lounges is decorated in plush red velvet fabrics and adorned with antique furnishings resonant with Victorian Belfast. Walls and cabinets feature rare Belfast whiskey – branded mirrors and memorabilia inspired by the buildings origins as a bonded warehouse - the headquarters of The Old Bushmills Distillery Company. Pride of place is given to a large Victorian Cash Desk which was rescued from the St James Gate Brewery in Dublin. Just call in and you will enjoy a huge welcome from a proper pub with a huge “Belfast Spirit.”

  • Our uber driver recommended this bar 2 us along with a few others. We got off here and said we would go for 1 anyway. We went in a side entrance and took a lift to the next floor. Exactly my cup of te...  more »

  • Very catchy interiors! Loved it. #colorMeRed! The lady at the bar was super nice. She even tried to accommodate my coffee request even though the bar doesn't serve coffee. Very kind of her. Great place to catch up with friends or just relax after visiting Belfast( which we did!)
  • A cool pub in the best part of Belfast with a large range of drinks and often playing live music. No cocktails last time I called in but it was pretty busy so I don't know if that is the standard or not. Mixed range of people which is nice to see and it seems to have a pretty relaxed dress code. Bar and door staff seemed cool too, I think the bouncer fancied my mum.
  • One of the best pubs in town. The new area is really nice and cozy. Music here is also amazing. Only reason I'm not a 5 star is the price. Think it's just a tad expensive compared to other pubs in town
  • Nice bar, good size, good music.. Could do with a few more than 1 non alcoholic beer.. I know it's a pub but it'd be nice to have something other than Becks ot Heineken Blue for the drivers 👍
  • Was here last night it's a great wee spot, lovely decor. The atmosphere was lively for a Tuesday night, great singers and band on. Brilliant local talent. Staff and door men friendly. Reasonably priced drinks for a central location.
