  • We walked here from a narrow boat cruise that we were taking. It seemed so far away from our spot on the canal, but was really not a bad hike. Beautiful grounds and fantastic views. I am always amazed...  more »

  • Great views and history. Doesn't take long to get around but if there's an event on its a great place to spend an afternoon. It's in a great location too with other attractions such as the ice cream farm only 5 minutes away so worth the trip out to.
  • Fabulous location overlooking several counties. It's a bit of a trek uphill to get to the castle but the views on a clear day make up for it. Great place for a picnic!
  • An interesting site with truly stunning views when you reach the top. The entrance price is almost as steep as the walk up the hill...but probably worth it, if you plan to spend enough time here. You can see for miles and miles - all around the castle - fantastic views in every direction. The grounds are fun to explore too but there's not a huge amount to see other that some fairly unexciting caves and a pleasant wooded area. Take a picnic if the weather is fine and prolong your stay - you will get better value for money.
  • Beautiful place on a clear, sunny day. Considering the castle is now only minimal ruins it seems expensive to get into the grounds but worth the views from the top where you can sit and have a picnic. Would highly recommend the Circular Trail walk if you want to have a bit more of an active day - a couple of decent hill/forest climbs but a lot of lovely scenery.
  • A really good day out. A lot of walking up hill but the views were well worth it.
