  • Incredible views... We read somewhere online that there was an Autumn Fair on this weekend so we decided to make our way over (for us took well over an hour) - some traffic issues plus reasonable dist...  read more »

  • Considering it was only £6ish to get in its really worth a visit. Lovley little hill fort and 2 outer walls. You can climb all over them if you want! (No one arround to tell u off!) Its a little bit like going on a country walk with bits of castle popping out here n there. The views are great as you walk arround and you can even see peckforton castle from it. (On the next hill!) Small visitors centre for grabbing a gift and a small coffee bar (outside) for lunch.
  • Great spot with excellent views of the surrounding countryside. Wonderful walk from the entrance to the castle itself. Good gift shop if that's important to you.
  • Great views of the areas and a nice walk. But there are no signs to say what bits of the castle are anywhere. So it's probably best to get a guide book
  • Very expensive for a ruined castle on top of a hill. It must have been very impressive five hundred years ago, or a thousand, but there's really not much left. It doesn't help that English heritage have built an ugly concrete bridge up to the inner bailey, which ruins the look of the approach. For 20 pounds for a family of four it's not worth it at all.
  • Expensive for what it is but well worth a walk up with the dog and kids
