  • Took the Mrs as she loves castles and I haven't been here for at least 25 years. Entrance fee is a bit expensive. For 2 adults and parking it was just over £17. There's a few things to see on the walk...  more »

  • This often overlooked castle in Cheshire, is well worth visiting. It is a pleasant drive through the country lanes to get there, and the car park is a good size and mostly grass so you can pic-nic nex...  more »

  • Such a beautiful and amazing place. The history behind it is amazing. The staff are incredible and friendly and give such amazing customer service. The views from the castle are breath taking. The walk is calming and beautiful. A great place to bring the family and dogs. Would definitely visit again bringing the while family next time :)
  • This ruinous castle is a gem in the Cheshire countryside. There is a fee for non-English heritage members but it is worth it for the views! After a hike up the steep hillside you are greeted with 360° of the countryside. You can see for miles!! As there are no interpretive panels, the book sold in the visitor centre is extremely helpful. It's also a great souviner :).
  • Brilliant day with the kids. Price is good and the shop had plenty of gifts to take away with you. The view at the top is simply stunning and is well worth the walk up.
  • A park with a ruined castle, some caves you can't enter and a shop full of tat. Spectacular views over Wales and Cheshire. Kids will enjoy climbing the ruined walls. Plenty of benches and picnic tables. Expensive if you're not a member of English Heritage. There are not many English Heritage sites in the Northwest. Staff were friendly and helpful.
  • Don't recommend for small children at all as dangerous Our 4yr old decided to run full speed off the hill inside the castle and would have hit the jagged rocks and wall if I hadn't caught him. We expect the unexpected when it comes to our fearless 4yr old. Not great for buggies although that was to be expected so not a complaint although would expect some one to mention when buying tickets.
