The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa, Bath

#4 of 243 in Things to do in Bath
One of the best examples of Georgian architecture in the UK, The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa is a street of terraced houses laid out in a crescent shape. The stone facade retains all the original detail from the Georgian period and is a testament to that era's elegance. It is best viewed from the royal park adjacent to the building, where the entire crescent can be seen from the concave side. Most of the houses are offices or private residences, but a hotel and the Georgian House Museum on street level give a peek into what the rooms may have looked like when the buildings were first opened. • We had originally booked two nights in this sublime hotel, but we loved it so much, we extended our stay to four! The hotel is quite exceptional, positioned in the middle of the Royal Crescent, perfectly situated, a short walk to the bustling streets of Bath. High ceilings, period features, antique furnishings, a Georgian treasure. We stayed in the Duke of York suite in the main building, by far the biggest room we've ever stayed in, and quite beautiful. Spotless, and serene. The restaurant is found a short walk through the gardens, where the food and service was of 5 star quality. The staff really can't do enough for you. I can't fault anything during our stay, and can't recommend enough.
  • What can I say? Service, first class, venue, first class and afternoon tea, first class. A fine collection of teas to choose from, sandwiches to die for and scones and bath buns that melt in your mouth. The staff were down to earth yet thoroughly attentive, doing everything within their power to make sure your visit was memorable. It's not cheap, but it was great value! I wholeheartedly recommend.
  • Visited the Royal Crescent in April of last year and had a fantastic weekend stay. The rooms are classic yet very comfortable with adequate bathrooms. Our room in particular had a lovely view over the old cobblestone roads of bath. highlight of the stay was the “fine dining” restaurant. We chose the tasting menu which was a fabulous 6 course meal paired with a wonderful 2014 Tannat. Rare a place like this has such an array of eclectic wines! All in all fabulous experience will be returning in years to come.
  • Came here for afternoon tea, was a very nice and quaint experience. The desserts were excellent, so was the service. Highly recommend.
  • Visiting for afternoon tea, the Dower House located to the rear through the lovely landscaped garden. The staff were welcoming and attentive. The afternoon tea was superb, the refills on finger sandwiches & teas were excellent and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Thoughouly recommend a visit when coming to bath. Thank you to all the staff for looking after us.
