Prior Park Landscape Gardens (NT), Bath

#2 of 16 in Parks in Bath
How often do you get to visit a garden designed by a poet? Prior Park Landscape Gardens (NT) offers that experience set in a valley of no small natural beauty with views of the city of Bath. Literally the prototype of the "English garden," it has influenced the design of other such gardens throughout Europe. Only a handful of Palladian bridges remain in the world, and you’ll find one of them here--you can even walk across it. Relax in the verdant grass surrounding a manmade lake, complete with a tea shed. Stroll the nearly 10 km (6.25 mi) skyline to gaze at the natural beauty and check out Iron Age and Roman-era constructions. Finish off your visit with a picnic at the park; you can snag a rug at the boat shop if you forgot your blanket. • Definitely well worth a visit, would never have even known it was there its hidden. No parking so you have to either walk or get a bus (which stops right outside) up to there. It is a lovely space and you could spend hours here walking around the various different paths. I wouldnt bother with the cafe as i had a look to get a piece of cake and it was £5 for a tiny little slice so gave it a miss. I would definitely recommend bringing a pack lunch with you.
  • The restoration of the park is coming along nicely. A quiet sanctuary just a short distance from Bath City Centre. Be aware the walk up from the City is very steep, I will take the bus up if I go again!
  • Its a nice place not far from the centre of bath its a bit of a hike uphill though. There is no parking around the park so we parked at the centre and walked up. There is a disabled parking at the bottom. Cafe is nice serving hot and cold drinks and cakes. You can have your coffee by the lake which is nice.
  • Great place, pretty and peaceful. Friendly staff and nice little cafe. Nice walking paths and wildlife including spotted a kingfisher :)
  • Breathtaking view to Bath, if you can get away from groups, it is a nice, peaceful place. We a spent about 3 hours here and walked around the whole park. I would recommend this place if you like nature.
