Prior Park Landscape Gardens (NT), Bath
(4.6/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
How often do you get to visit a garden designed by a poet? Prior Park Landscape Gardens (NT) offers that experience set in a valley of no small natural beauty with views of the city of Bath. Literally the prototype of the "English garden," it has influenced the design of other such gardens throughout Europe. Only a handful of Palladian bridges remain in the world, and you’ll find one of them here--you can even walk across it. Relax in the verdant grass surrounding a manmade lake, complete with a tea shed. Stroll the nearly 10 km (6.25 mi) skyline to gaze at the natural beauty and check out Iron Age and Roman-era constructions. Finish off your visit with a picnic at the park; you can snag a rug at the boat shop if you forgot your blanket. • If you don't want to sit in cafe but just want to get a take away coffee, a sandwich and the papers, this is the place to sit on a nice day.
  • Lovely places, superb little cafe hut. Gorgeous Palladian bridge. Walk to it from the Skyline Walk and enjoy a drink by the brazier.
  • The park offers some nice views city of Bath. There is an entrance fee if your are not part of natural trust! The park is not that big and you can go around it in about 1 hour
