Prior Park Landscape Gardens (NT), Bath
(4.6/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
How often do you get to visit a garden designed by a poet? Prior Park Landscape Gardens (NT) offers that experience set in a valley of no small natural beauty with views of the city of Bath. Literally the prototype of the "English garden," it has influenced the design of other such gardens throughout Europe. Only a handful of Palladian bridges remain in the world, and you’ll find one of them here--you can even walk across it. Relax in the verdant grass surrounding a manmade lake, complete with a tea shed. Stroll the nearly 10 km (6.25 mi) skyline to gaze at the natural beauty and check out Iron Age and Roman-era constructions. Finish off your visit with a picnic at the park; you can snag a rug at the boat shop if you forgot your blanket. • Really lovely place to visit with the children and dog. Steep walk to get back up but worth it for the view.
  • Wonderful and beautiful landscape gardens. The sun was shining when we went and made the whole scenery seem magical. Perfect for a leisurely walk (some hill climbing required) and a picnic.
  • Nice place, quiet, calm, on the mountain stands the old college building, where the kids, of course it's nice to see it all summer, but fall has its own appeal.
